3 Ways to Find Cheap Car Insurance
Cheap car insurance is a lot easier to find than you think.
Cheap car insurance is something that all drivers wish for, but think that they will never find. The truth is though, that it may be hiding right under their nose and they just don’t know it.
#1: Cheap Car Insurance from Discounts
Never assume that your insurance company is giving you all of the discounts that you qualify for. Yes, it is their job to make sure that your policy is rated properly. But, it is your job to make sure that you aren’t getting overcharged.
To make sure that you are not getting overcharged, contact your insurance company and have them go over all of the premium discounts they offer. If you aren’t getting some of them, make them tell you why you don’t qualify. If there are some they don’t list off, ask them about them.
The most common discounts insurance companies offer include:
- Good student discounts
- Multiple policies discounts
- Multiple vehicles discounts
- Good driver discounts
#2: Cheap Car Insurance from Lowing Coverage
Although not usually recommended, you can automatically find cheap car insurance with your current policy by lowering your coverages. You can do this by changing any of the following:
- Cancel towing coverage because you already have it through AAA or another source
- Cancel rental car coverage because you have multiple vehicles
- Increase the deductible on your comprehensive or collision coverage
- Remove comprehensive or collision coverage because your vehicle is worth less than what you are paying to keep insurance on it
Before you decide to remove or lower any of your coverages though, talk to your car insurance agent first. They can advise you on the best changes to make that will lower your premium, but still keep you protected.
#3: Cheap Car Insurance from Looking Around
Looking around and getting quotes from different insurance companies is the easiest way to find yourself cheap car insurance. All insurance companies have different rates, different rating criteria for its drivers, and different discounts – meaning that they are all going to charge you something different for the same exact coverage.
This also means that if you don’t call around or use a website (like Car Insurance Guidebook) to find out what all of the different companies charge, you are never going to find which company is going to be able to provide you with cheap car insurance.
