Esurance Reviews
Founded in 1998, Esurance became one of the fastest growing auto insurance companies in the United States. Once known for their pink-haired superhero agent, Erin, Esurance – now an Allstate company – is a popular destination for online car insurance shoppers. The following Esurance insurance reviews are from actual customers.
Esurance is not a traditional auto insurance company. They primarily reside online with agents selling their policies throughout the country. They seem to simplify the buying process and live up to their former ‘Quote. Buy. Print.” tagline. If you have Esurance car insurance, leave a review about your experience – good or bad. Easy to do business with. Havent had a claim yet, but if it is as easy as it was to get the insurance online we shouldn’t have a problem.

I am so happy with my current experience with Esurance that I really can’t even express how much I love being insured with them. They are always so attentive and honest, and they are so much different than the traditional insurance companies I have used before them. They make the process so quick and user friendly, and I believe that they are the insurance company of the future. Things are all about ease of use and convenience now a days, and that is exactly the experience I always have with them. The initial application process made it so that I hardly had to type anything in besides my VIN number. They also make it easy to submit claims and get anything you need to have done taken care of right over the internet. Also, if you are more used to the traditional way of doing things, you can call them for anything you need as well. They give the best prices out of anyone I have ever seen because they have less overhead, and I believe that this is a very smart and necessary concept. They really know what they are doing, and I believe that more insurance companies will begin to function more like Esurance in the future. They are way ahead of their time. I would always prefer to do business with them above any other choice of insurance company that is out there. Other companies really need to catch up and get with the program because this company really has everything figured out. They make sure that they function in the smartest way possible, and they also make sure that the customer is always happy.

Esurance is not a good company to get insurance from. I asked for a quote got one at a low price. I asked the agent to call me back the next day was at work to finish everything. Never got a call back when I called him back he was out of the office. So I had to deal with someone else we had to go over everything again when we b got to the payment park the computer was acting up. He could not process my payment so he said he would call me back he never did. I call back the next day a whole new story now that my policy had ended with my other carrier now they wanted to charge me more. Watch out for the bull they will try it on you!

I obtained an auto insurance quote from esurance.com and subsequently purchased the policy.
I paid in full.
As soon as esurance had taken my payment in full, they requested all kinds of proof for their supposed “discounts.” They requested proof of previous policy or my rate would go up by $ 300 which was a 40% increase of my current premium.
I provided proof of my previous coverage so my policy premium remained the same.
The following day (day 1 of my policy being in effect), they reviewed my policy declarations and although I had provided proof of insurance during the last 6 months, they stated that my Bodily Injury Limit was 30k person/60k incident and for this reason, my rating was being downgraded and my policy with esurance was going from 50k/100k bodily injury to 30k/60k and my policy premium was still going up another $ 205 (which was about 33% higher than the current premium I had).
Geico provided a cheaper quote without any of the arbitrary rules that esurance had.
To me it seemed as though they were going to find any excuse to spike my premium after the supposed “discounts” they provided.
How can they lower your limits and spike your premium?
How is my bodily injury limit relevant to my new insurance policy and then a reason to spike my policy premium?
To me it seems, they make you jump through hoops and more to provide any supposed discount. They have arbitrary, subjective and beneficial policies to them to spike your premium once you are on the hook.
Upon cancellation of a policy I used 1 day, they take the liberty of charging me a 10% cancellation fee of the total policy premium-not the $ 754 they originally quoted me and priced me, but rather the $ 960, they had spiked the premium to, after I was already on the hook with them.
My 1 day policy and stress with esurance cost me $ 100.
To put the cherry on top, they e-mailed me documentation to return a driver sense device for another insured in another state. Just another sign of the disorganization of this company and their true colors.
I could have used that money in much better ways.
I have policy now through Geico.
Whatever you do, avoid Esurance.

Esurance turned out to be the cheapest insurance that I could find. I had AAA for years and I was shocked when I saw how much cheaper Esurance was in comparison. I ended up saving sixty dollars a month. And it was really easy and quick to get a quote. The whole process took less than twenty minutes and it was really easy to sign up for. I have auto pay on my account and they send me an email a week before they process my payment. I like that because I can always make sure that I have money in my checking account. I am not sure how good they are when processing claims because I have not had to use the insurance for anything yet. (Thank God) I assume it is easy to use. The customer service is pretty good too. A few months ago, I left my dome light on in my car. When I came out of work, my battery was completely dead. I called them up and I had roadside assistance come out within a half hour or so. It was great. The customer service reminded me of when I had AAA. I was kind of worried about how good the customer service was going to be because I was so used to have AAA. It was pretty much the same. I like that I can do everything online or through their app and not have to wait on the phone for a representative to help me. I think I am going to keep this Esurance for a while. I really like it. I told my brother to check it out and he is really happy with it too.

I was with Esurance since 2008 and everything was ok with them. Just ok. I made my payments every 6 months and had no contact with them otherwise. Until last November when I couldn’t avoid hitting a street light that a snow plow had just knocked into the road during a blizzard. Because the light was stationary at that point it was all my fault as I should have been paying attention and avoided it. They did help me to get my car in for a quote quickly and paid the collision shop in a timely manner although they sent the check to an old address of mine. Thank goodness the collision shop was on top of it and friendly and they called Esurance to have the check stopped and a new one issued. I did not like that every person that called me was from a different location and not once could they pronounce my name correctly. While I expected my rates to go up, I was astounded that they raised them 100%! Had they been more reasonable I might have stayed with them. Ive found a new insurance company and am happy that I have 1 point of contact there if I ever need anything. If you are looking for cheap, sure, use Esurance. But If you want a little customer service as well, I’d say shop around more.

Got a loan on a used car for my son who is under 25 and unemployed so that he would be able to look for work then get to work. a week later, he found work and is progressing nicely! did a web application for esurance, got a quote back for $230 per month, $500 down payment. So I bought it, thinking it was set. Got an email 24hours later saying that my rate had doubled! I thought they had ran drivers license, credit, etc to provide the quote, but apparently they don’t. So another 24 hours go by and I get another email saying that I need to provide proof that I hadn’t had a lapse in bodily injury insurance so I faxed that info. My rate went up another $200! People this policy was now almost $700 per month! So I faxed over that info again and circled the part that says I have $500,000 in BI coverage. No change to the policy. So I went quote hunting, found the same policy with the same elements for $263 per month. Dropped esurance the same day.

I have had Esurance for the last two years and have been quite happy with them. Every interaction I have had with them over the phone has been positive and informative and the representative courteous and helpful. When my son bought his car, getting the insurance that his financial institution required for it was quick and painless. A year ago, my son’s car was damaged by a hit and run driver and Esurance was easy to deal with and very helpful to my son as they walked him through his first experience of this type. There were no issues with getting his car fixed in a timely and efficient manner. Their automated system always notifies me a few days in advance that the payment withdrawal is coming up, a courtesy that I appreciate because sometimes I get busy and forget. I am not sure how their rates compare to other insurance providers because I have been happy enough with their service to not really feel the need to explore other options. And since I have very basic liability on my car (just what the law requires), I’m pretty sure what I am paying is probably about as low as it can get anyway. Also, when I was setting up my insurance with this company, and I told the representative that all I wanted on my old car was what the law requires, she was happy to set that up for me and didn’t try to sell me coverage that I didn’t want, which I really appreciated. So, all in all, it has been a very satisfying experience using Esurance for my auto insurance needs.

Esurance made a change in my policy and removed collision and comprehensive insurance without my knowledge. I received a renewal notice telling me that they had changed my policy. Because the change was noted in the renewal which was a month out, I understood that the change was being made for the renewal period. A few days later my daughter was in an accident and we discovered that the change had been made without notification in advance. They couched the statement in the renewal notice. I have never had an insurance company make ANY change in a policy without giving me advance written notice. Both cars on our policy were financed and we are required to maintain collision insurance. Their lack of prior notification, about this specific change, coupled with the ‘after the fact’ statement in the renewal notice, indicates a company that is dishonest and unethical. Because they are associated with Allstate, I thought I was dealing with a reputable company. I’d like to know whose ‘Good Hands’ I was in when they changed my policy without telling me?!?

STAY AWAY! My husband and I bought our automobile insurance (prepaid entire premium) with esurance in February. We required special insurance because my husband recently got a DUI. Sometime in March we received notice that our policy was going to be cancelled on April 20 because my husband did not have a driver’s license (it was suspended due to the DUI). I called immediately and explained that his hearing to get his conditional license was on April 28 and asked for an extension. I was told by a representative not to worry, our policy would not be cancelled, but would just not be eligible for renewal in August. My husband received the conditional license and everything seemed to be fine. However, Esurance did not honor this extension and cancelled our policy anyways. We did not receive ANY notice from Esurance that the cancellation was effective, but instead received notice from the State of Florida that my husband’s license was again suspended for failure to maintain continuous insurance. I called Esurance and was told that it was a complete error on its part, and that they would work to correct the issue. Three days later, Esurance calls stating they would not reinstate our policy. After 2 hours on the phone with customer service, I was informed that yes, they made the mistake, but still they would not resolve the issue because I should have known to call and check the status (even though they had assured me “not to worry, we won’t cancel your policy.” I jokingly said “So you cancel policies after an express warranty that you would not, and then just keep the money?” The agent was shocked I hadn’t received my refund yet. Needless to say, the company is shady, provides horrible customer service, won’t correct their errors, and if you don’t ask for it, they’ll keep your money! STAY AWAY!!!

When they offer sending you the drive sense device for 10% discount, do not get it. you better off paying additional 10%.
you can be charged $200 if your device doesn’t “work” …
they make the call!!!

I have Erie Insurance for my auto and it really is a good insurance. I also have my renters insurance through Erie, which gives me a good discount on my auto insurance. I pay my bill online and I have my insurance cards in the mail in a matter of days. Whenever I call the agent I always get a live agent and they work with me right then, no holds at all. I have what is called a tied in price, it never goes up the price is the same every year unless you call and make changes. The changes then are just a few dollars up or down depending on what it is at the time.
The girls in the office are so nice and friendly, they are always polite, never snippy or rude. I have never had a claim on my auto but I did on my renters insurance when I was burned out, and I had no hassle at all to get paid for my belongings. If I ever need help with my auto I am very sure there will be no problems at all, they also have a great Website online that will give you quotes for all your insurance needs which does have a couple of videos that tells you about collision coverage and comprehensive coverage. So this is where to go for your insurance shopping. Where I do everything online I really don’t need a insurance agent but it is nice to know that there is one just a phone call away who will deal with you right away.|

I’d been fairly satisfied with having Esurance as my insurance provider, until recently. They had been the cheapest rate, dropping my rate by $45 a month compared to my previous company. Due to this I’ve been a loyal customer for 5 years now. This all changed when I was involved in a very minor fender bender.
This was my first accident after being a driver for over 10 years. The other car, the one I bumped into, received ONLY scratches on the bumper which appeared they could have just been buffed out. The insurance found me 100% at fault, which was true, but not for the amount they said they had to pay the other driver. Because of this accident my rates have literally doubled! Customer service was a joke when I called and told them I’d like to cancel my policy, they threatened me with early termination fees. As I explained to the customer service rep I understand rates going up for an accident, but doubling them for an extremely minor accident? That is just absurd! I have been frustrated by this experience because I loved this company and always stood up for them.
Not any longer. I am now on the lookout for another company

After buying a an almost brand new vehicle i started my search for a new auto insurance company. My previous vehicle, which i still own, was on another large insurance company’s plan with my family. I felt like i was getting ripped off so i decided to shop around for insurance on my new vehicle.
I got quotes from many of the larger companies and also some smaller ones. For the most part they were all in the same price range and i couldn’t understand why. I had never been in any accidents or ever pulled over in the 10 years i have been driving. I finally went online to esurance after seeing a commercial and i got a quote online. It was cheaper then all the other companies quotes by about 20 dollars.
I then called Esurance to talk to a representative. There was a very minimal wait time and i was talking to someone who spoke very clear english. That is always a plus with customer service. After going over my plan with him he then changed some options to make it even cheaper for me! I have been with Esurance now for over a year and I am still happy with them.
Even though after the first 6 months they increased my monthly payment by 2 dollars which i did not understand at all. But none the less i am still happy and will continue to be an Esurance customer for quite some time

This is the worse insurance to I have ever have. If you have to make claim with them and want your vehicle fixed look somewhere else. All they want to do is collect premium and drag their feet on your claim.

they will require you to pay 300 $ after you go through the long online offer whicH ONLY LOOKS GOOD ON THE SURFACE
or worse they say TAKE it or LEAVE IT!!
UNBELIEVABLE
P.S : they may charge you for the 300 after 6 months it’s their new dirty trick

Esurance is an absolute nightmare if you have to file an expensive claim. I have struggled with them for two years after my then husband ran over something on the highway. There was some pre-existing scratches to outside of the vehicle and grill because he didn’t take care of the car, but nothing pre-existing under the car. They covered the scratches on the outside of vehicle and said the damage under the car, which had damaged the transmission of the Mercedes and ripped the wiper fluid tank.was pre-existing damage and they refused to cover it. The transmission of my car will cost at least $8,000 to repair and they will not even pay for the tear down for an assessment. They want me to pay for the tear down and will only cover it if they find themselves at fault–what a thieving bunch of criminals this company employs! I am now with Ameriprise through Costco who charges far less, and is a much better company. Do not make the mistake I did–Esurance is little more than a scam company pretending to insure your vehicles. I would have given zero stars but have to give them at least one. You can do far better with Ameriprise or Amica, reputable companies with very decent pricing and excellent service.

Esurance is not a hands on company. You receive different information from everyone you talk to. They canceled my policy after they couldn’t make money on my wife because she was an excluded party a non driver. Then they wanted to issue me a new policy with a rate of about 300.00 more than I original paid. They are a rip off
Not happy.

Esurance has continued to increase rates on me, while being extremely dishonest. I recently moved back to my home state. I had trouble verifying my new address so Esurance increased my rate to my original home address promising that once I could verify my address they would bring my rate back down to the original quote. Once I verified my new address they increased my quote again! My rate is now $200 more a year from the original quote of the same address.
Each customer service rep I talked to in the underwriting department was rude, short, and unhelpful. Esurance is dishonest and, in this case, fraudulent. I would not recommend them to any one.
I have a perfect record. I never had a speeding ticket or had to file a claim, and thank goodness I didn’t. If dealing with them now is so difficult, I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to deal with them in a real situation.

I just talked with someone on the phone to try to get a quote from esurance and the guy was a total jerk. I wasn’t comfortable giving out my social security number or drivers license number at the time and after I said that he just said quickly “ok, have a nice day, bye” and hung up on me. Never going to try dealing with this company again.

Please read this………..do NOT purchase esurance, there are MUCH better options for you.
Long story short, I was recently screwed over by esurance. Both in terms of contract pricing, amount of monthly cost, and termination fee. Its clear esurance is NOT the same company it was when it was founded. I would caution all consumers from using esurance and would suggest to comparison shop and look for a better alternative.
I never write reviews, but I’ll be writing them all day for how poorly my experience was with esurance. By far, the worst car insurance company I’ve ever delt with.

I switched from Progressive to Esurance about a year ago because I wanted to lower my bill. Esurance was about $30/month cheaper with the same coverages as Progressive so I decided to switch.
Switching was very easy. The main difference between other insurance companies and Esurance is that you have to print out your own ID cards and they never send anything in the mail. Progressive would send out 7-page declarations page every time I made a change to my policy or any time it renewed. They would also provide the ID cards, which was nice. I never remember to print out my Esurance cards, but if you download the app on your phone you can have it on your phone for whenever you need it. Less clutter is nice.
You also don’t get your own agent. You get who you get when you call to file a claim. I haven’t filed a claim with Esurance yet, but when I tried to file a claim for my broken windshield, I learned that there was no glass clause and my $500 deductible would apply so I had to pay the full amount to replace my windshield. Progressive has a an option for a $50 windshield deductible, which is nice.
My premium also went up, so if it continues I might go back to Progressive. Progressive offers the snapshot discount so I would like to try that. Overall, Esurance is nice because it is cheaper and reliable since it is backed by All State; however, they don’t offer as many options like Progressive such as the snapshot discount and the “name-your-own-price” tool. Customer service is friendly, but doesn’t do much when you try to lower your premium.

My husband and I have had insurance through Esurance (an Allstate Company) for just over 6 years. We weren’t looking for a relationship, just a company that would take care of business when we needed them to. Esurance is not a “come in and sit down” kind of insurance company. There’s not an office you can go to and have a face to face conversation. This kind of company might deter others who prefer a more personal relationship with their insurance agent. We find it convenient that we don’t have to make an appearance at an office somewhere. We find it convenient to just make a phone call to settle anything we need.
We moved a couple years back to a different state and an Esurance gave us the lowest rate than any other company for the same coverage. I recently even had an Allstate agent try to get a cheaper quote and not even Allstate could give us a better quote. We love that we can do everything by phone or online. We’ve utilized the online bill pay and have printed our insurance cards out whenever we’ve needed them.
We needed a tow and only received fantastic service from the agent we called. He had a tow truck there in minutes and made what was quite an inconvenience for the day, easier to deal with. Anytime we’ve had to make a call, we’ve received friendly service. No plans to switch anytime soon, especially when we’re already getting a better deal than anywhere else and pleasant service.

I know everyone’s experience is different, but I’ve been really surprised at how easy it has been to work with esurance. After moving to Colorado I decided to shop around for a new insurance provider. Esurance had the absolute best rates, so I decided to take a chance. Little did I know how soon I would be needing them. My car got caught in one of our infamous summer hail storms here in Colorado and had over 300 dents. I submitted the claim online, took it to a Esurance approved shop for a quote, and a week later my claim check was in the mail. All this required very little back and forth with the esurance… I think I may have spent a grand total of 30 minutes dealing with this claim. That’s efficient! They actually were almost too efficient because while I was working to get my title to the vehicle, they actually sent the claim check too soon payable to my lender and me. I dinged them one star on claims processing for this. Aside from that, they were very fair with the estimates etc. Given all this I think I made a great choice to go with Esurance.

I’ve been with Esurance for a little over six months now and so far I have had nothing but good experiences with them. After a frustrating experience with my previous company I knew I needed to find something better, so I looked around online and got a few quotes from various other insurance providers. Esurance was the one that offered the best rates for what we needed, and they came highly recommended to us by one of my very good friends, so we decided to give them a try.
She uses them for both her car insurance and homeowners insurance, and said they were very helpful when someone broke into her car last year… luckily nothing was stolen, but they were quick to make the repairs she needed to her window.
The online signup was extremely quick and painless, I had absolutely no problems whatsoever with that part. Immediately after I signed up and made the payment, I was able to print off some insurance cards for both me and my husband. We didn’t even need to wait for the official ones to be sent to us in the mail. We switched to Esurance from Geico, which gave us so many problems it stresses me out just thinking about it now! It’s like night and day, and such a huge relief to finally have a hassle free insurance company.
Luckily I haven’t had to make any claims so far, and I pray we never will, but I have faith that this company will have my back if I ever needed them.

I would in fact recommend Esurance to other people interested in shopping for and comparing auto insurance companies (and related coverage(s), contract terms & conditions, and the speed, efficiency, and effectiveness of their customer service provisions and claims handling processes).
I initially found the online focus and business model of Esurance interesting, and I believe that this company has proven to offer me overall lower cost, and a better (faster, more effective) customer service experience than a traditional brick and mortar insurance service provider (I was, in the past, with State Farm, Inc.). I have only been a customer of Esurance since January, 2014. However, I had previous experience with approximately three (03) different more traditional brick and mortar automobile insurance carriers over a five (05) year period, each of these former carriers either progressively increased their respective annual rates, or added various surcharges to allow me to continue to obtain preferred rates and/or added contract features and benefits.
I was initially hesitant to try Esurance, because a local insurance provider, like a local financial institution, can often resolve issues in a more immediate, direct and satisfactory way than a remote one. However, Esurance contracts with a number of third-party organizations that have made working with them easier that I had supposed. I found a good deal of positive information online, including information from Consumer Reports, that offered Esurance favorable ratings and reviews. Esurance also presently has an “A+” “AM BEST” insurance-related liquidity rating nationwide. The Esurance headquaters and primary call center is located in Sacramento, CA. I was able to obtain an initial price quote over the phone with the call center, and then I completed the application and approval process online.
Overall, my experience with Esurance in terms of customer service and support has been quite positive. I have found their representatives helpful, patient, informative, and professional in the context of my various contact attempt(s) with them. In addition, I have thus far saved approximately fifteen (15) to twenty (20) percent of what I was formerly spending with a more traditional automobile insurance carrier.
