Auto-Owners is a mutual insurance company that has been around for the last 90 years. They are based out of Michigan and have around 37,000 agents at more than 6,200 independent insurance agencies selling their insurance coverage.

They have ranked in the Fortune 500 since 2002 and they have received multiple J.D. Power and Associates awards in customer satisfaction. In addition, they have an “A++” rating with A.M. Best, an “A” rating from Demotech, and an “A” rating by Weiss Ratings, Inc.

    Auto Owners has easily been the best insurance company that my family has ever dealt with. Over the 5 years that we have been with them they have always been prompt and courteous with us whenever we have had a question or a claim. We have only had to file a few claims with them but the service was within my expectation of what it should be. The most recent incident was when my wife’s car died on her way home from work. She called the roadside assistance service from Auto Owners and they had someone out to her car within 30 minutes. They also have a 24 hour call center located within the United States which is a big bonus for me, as I have a hard time understanding accents over the phone due to bad hearing. It literally took less than 30 seconds for them to assist us with adding a new vehicle to our policy when we were at a car dealership six months ago. Their prices are really affordable and compare to the best rates in my state. They also offer homeowner’s insurance and provide us with multiple policy discounts. It really is great having all our insurance handled by one company. They also quote by the year and don’t try to gouge you at renewal time.

    The only negative thing about Auto Owners that I could possibly think of to say would be that they only sell their insurance through agents – so you can’t deal with the company directly. It can make it just a bit inconvenient but they do offer 24 hour customer support so it kind of makes up for it. My family had an accident last year and the process was pretty smooth. After totaling out our car hitting a deer the insurance company gave us more than fair value for our car which allowed us to purchase a vehicle that was a year newer than the one that had been destroyed. The whole process took about a week to complete. There was no attempt to steer us toward a particular repair shop to have the car evaluated prior to totaling it out. Auto Owners dispatched a representative in about twenty four hours to check out the car. After that we had the check in hand in less than three days and were off to pick out a new car. Their rates are extremely affordable and they offer a good range of coverage options.|Auto Owners provides efficient value and great customer service.

    Auto Owner’s has the disadvantage of not being a company that you can easily interact with directly. For the most part you have to go through an insurance agent unlike some other companies where you can directly contact the insurance carrier with your questions or concerns. This made me a bit nervous when my wife and I signed up for our policy. The price was by far the best that we could get and they offered other types of insurance that allowed us to bundle everything for our household into one provider. About a year into the policy my wife struck a deer with her ten year old car. After contacting the agency we only had to wait a few hours before Auto Owner’s started the ball rolling. In under a week they had determined that the car was a total loss and issued a more than fair payout that allowed us to buy a car that was a year newer than the one that we had lost. The price of their auto policies is more than fair. For the premium we pay we get comprehensive coverage – including towing. That right there is worth it. We live in a state known for insanely high premiums so it is a pleasant surprise to find a company that doesn’t nickel and dime us to death. In the end I would definitely recommend Auto Owner’s insurance. I’m sure your experience could vary depending on the agency that you are going through but the company itself is very solid.

    In April I had a car accident. I had been driving down a city street when I struck a deer. I called the claims center and they immediately started the case. They told me to have it towed and get a quote started on it. I had towing insurance as part of my policy so that was all good. I found out that they only charge a $100 deductible for car/deer collisions, which was great. A few days went by and I contacted them again to find out that they received a quote and were getting information together. It was a good week before I heard back from them. I wish it could have been quicker. They decided to total the car out. I expected to have to negotiate over the payout amount but their initial offer was more than fair. I was able to upgrade from a compact to a mid-size car a year newer when all was said and done. The price of my policy was not affected (in fact it went down after purchasing the new car.) I really can’t complain about this company at all. They took really good care of me from start to finish. After being with them for a few years I have noticed that the price of my policy has not gone up, which I had noticed happening with my previous company. I feel that Auto Owners is very upfront and honest with their customers. I really feel like they care about their customers and view them as more than just numbers

    I have been with Auto Owner’s Insurance company for over and year and I could not be happier. I changed from Allstate due to the increasing premium rates. Overall, Auto Owner’s has been a terrific company and has the lowest premiums that I have been able to find. I receive multiple offers, including special offers for working for a school system, but none have these have been able to compete with the deal I get with Auto Owner’s. I do not have experience with their claim department as I have never been involved in an accident, but the standard customer service has also been excellent. I would highly recommend Auto Owner’s insurance to anyone looking for quality insurance at an affordable price.

    A new area and found myself having to insure my home and my car. I signed on with them initially, of course, because of the rate they were able to offer me.

    What really impressed me though, were the extras that came with my policy, as well as the discounts that they were able to offer me. They had a Safe Driver type of discount that applied to me, as I’ve never had a traffic infraction or any sort of accident. This alone saved me over $15 dollars a month.

    I got further discounts for being on the Dean’s List at school, for having my home insured through them too, and obtained another discount when I placed liability insurance on my truck that I don’t drive very often, along side my car.

    They also offered me a roadside assistance plan for only one dollar more per month. I’d never had roadside assistance before, but opted for the plan because of how cheap it was. Since I signed up with Auto Owners, I’ve used the discount twice – once for a flat tire and another time for when I locked my keys in my car. To think that over the last 15 months I’ve only spent 15 dollars on this extra, great service, makes me very happy.

    Their customer service is also fantastic. They are available 24/7 and will speak with me instead of referring me to my local agent. I am very satisfied with every facet of my insurance, and do not intend to shop around anywhere else at any time in the near future.|

    I have had insurance with Auto-Owners for about four years. They beat another leading company with regard to rates by 100%. Our good credit helped with this as well as our clean MVR. We were with the prior company for six years.

    I was very skeptical when I changed companies but four months later I was quickly confirmed that I had made the right decision. I was on the way to the doctor in a nearby city on a major interstate. It was rush hour and the traffic was heavy. While going through a construction zone I hit a piece of black pipe.

    The car in front of me ran over it first. I was in the left hand land next to a concrete barrier with cars to the right of me. I didn’t have any room to dodge the vehicle at all. I thought everything was fine and proceeded on my journey. When I was finished with my appointment the valet was driving my car around a horseshoe. I saw what looked to be a strange shadow and as the car came closer I could see it was damaged.

    My heart sunk thinking this might cause us to be cancelled. It literally looked like a can opener had ripped down the bottom of my passenger door! I called my agent and she said to come by her office so she could make some pictures and submit the claim. I expressed much concern since our policy with them was so new. I was assured that we would not be cancelled. When it came time for renewal my rates didn’t raise one red penny.

    It was also amazed how fast they responded with payment to fix my car by a reputable body shop. I had a check in hand within a week’s time. I was very impressed with the follow up. We have had to make changes in our policy several times such as adding and dropping vehicles. We have also had to make changes from full pay to easy pay options.

    There website is fairly easy to navigate. If I want to reach my agent all I have to do is log on to the website and type a quick contact email and I get a call the next day from them to confirm changes or answer questions. I couldn’t be happier with my auto insurance company! They even earned my homeowner’s insurance business as well!|
