I have only had to deal with them once when I was in a minor accident. It was the other party’s fault and the damage to my car was only a couple hundred dollars worth. The issue is it took a long time between when the claim was filed and actually receiving a call or paper work from them about the claim. I found it a little annoying. In terms of premiums and deductibles they are about average. My friends all pay about the same amount for this type of full coverage so I do not feel like I am overpaying. I have a clean driving record so my premiums are not due to previous issues. Customer service wise I am usually able to get a hold of an agent and not be on hold for long. The couple I’ve talked to were in American call centers so that was nice. It’s really hard to deal with customer service and struggle to understand them. They seemed knowledgeable and were very helpful. Overall I do not mind having to talk to their customer service. I was also able to talk to them about getting monthly premium down a bit through the sales department. The actual agents did point out opportunities like defensive driving to lower the monthly rate. That’s another way they were helpful. Overall I would recommend them understanding that the claims probably could move faster. Maybe it was due to it being a very small accident, but I could not imagine if this had been a bigger accident.

I’ve had all my vehicles insured with American Family for almost 40 years and they have been absolutely great. My agent always alerts us when there is a better deal to lower our car insurance and we have been very satisfied. The agency keeps in contact with us on a regular first name basis (I think we were one of his first customers when they opened the agency). Although I have to admit that I’ve only had a few claims over the years, the occasional road service tow and 1 minor accident to my brand new car which had only 500 miles on it. Both my sons also have their car and motorcycle insurance with them now. Outstanding service

I have had American Family Insurance for the last 3 years. During that time I have had wonderful experiences with the customer service department. When it gets close to paying my bill my agent will either call or send me and email to let me know that it is time to make a payment. I have such a busy life and sometimes something as easy as paying a bill gets lost in the shuffle. I love this approach because this is not something that happens at other big car insurance companies. You feel like a person and not just a number. I also like the fact that I am offered new services every now and again but they are not forced down my throat. I cannot stand a pushy sales person and because of my situation I cannot afford everything so my agent revisits this with me about once every six month. Not once every time I call in.
I had once claim that was I was not the driver for, and the next year my rate did not go up. I appreciate a company that doesn’t jack up rates just because you have a claim. All in all I have been very satisfied with American Family Insurance and I recommend them to anyone I speak to.

American Family Insurance is an awesome auto insurance company! They have always been by my side for the past 20 years, and yes, I have truly been with them that long. They are a company that has been around a long time and have created a great name for themselves.
Recently I had to file a cracked windshield claim, I was driving on a road and a huge rock chipped my windshield from an on-coming truck. When I talked with the auto insurance company, they referred me to a few auto glass companies they work with and recommend. This was a huge help because I didn’t know who to contact as I’ve never had a cracked windshield before. I never had to pay a single penny outside of my regular monthly fee. This was great that they covered it with few questions asked!
I also like that my insurance agent will email me or I can email him if I ever have questions regarding my insurance. This has saved me the time and effort of a phone call as sometimes email is just easier and more time efficient. When I have needed to call, they are quick to pull my file and find out what I need. For the price I pay (I do get extra discounts because I pair my car insurance with my home owners insurance), this is a great company for insurance coverage. I like that they do a higher discount the more you have insured with them. That also saves me every month all around for all my insurance needs. Great company!

I’ve had American Family Insurance for years, and have never had a issue with them. The company has always treated me well, and like family. I’m from a small town, so that means a lot around here. It’s nice to have a company you can depend on, count on in your time of need. They were quick to help me out when someone hit my car, and my rates didn’t go up due to it. American Family let me know what to do, and not do, they really walked me through the process of it all, and made sure I understood everything. They are by far the cheapest insurance company around. None of the other companies can compare to the auto insurance rates I get now. When I have tried other companies, they flat out told me I better stick with what I got, as it is a really good deal. They are a great family based business, and always greet you with a familiar smile and a “hello”. I’ve had to call them literally right at closing to get insurance switched over to a new vehicle I bought, and they were quick to get the information down, and fax me all the stuff I needed for that night. When I call they recognize me even before I have a chance to say who I am. I’ve never had errors on my bill, or any billing errors that I needed to take care of. I can rest assure, that American Family Insurance is there to keep me safe and covered.

American Family Insurance has been the company of choice for auto insurance in my family for as long as I can remember, so obviously when I reached driving age I stuck with them as we’d had such good experiences with them so far.
Always pleasant and convenient to deal with it is never a hassle to go into their offices for any issue. I can’t remember a time when they didn’t call me by my first and show legitimate interest in making everything as simple and easy as possible.
I remember a case a couple years ago where I was in a car accident and had some significant damage to my car. At the time I had been driving an old model car that had always been a bit of a problem car. Due to the age and diminished value of the car it was totaled. Never having experienced anything like this I had no idea what to anticipate for the replacement process and getting a new car. Luckily American Family made the whole process as easy as it could have possibly been. To date I’m still perplexed at how simple they had made the situation.
Price wise I feel as though my monthly payment has always been incredibly reasonable. Having a speeding ticket on my record I didn’t receive an obnoxious price increase. I can’t imagine switching insurance companies for any reason for the time being. American Family has been reliable, they have always helped me with anything I could ever ask of them, their prices are reasonable, and to top it all off our agent still sends me Holiday cards year round. They make me feel like they actually value me and care about my business.

I have American Family car insurance and I love it. The rates are great. I switched to this company from another well known company a few years ago. I have liability only on two vehicles and their rate beat out other companies. I have an agent, but I can also call into an 800 number and get my account serviced as well.
What stands out the most with this company is their customer service. My agent will call me when she hasn’t received a payment to remind me that it is due, offer to take the payment, or offer to set me up on automatic monthly payments. That to me is going above and beyond. I also love how my agent offers new products to me, however she is not pushy about it and she make sure to tailor new products to my needs. When she does that it lets me know that I am more than just a number and an actual person.
I also had a claim at one point in time and I hit someone, it was just a tap but there was still damage done, and American Family took care of me from the beginning of the process to the end. All of my questions were answered in a timely manner and my claims representative got back to me immediately anytime I called and he was not available. I think American Family takes everything that is bad about insurance companies and makes sure that they do not follow in that direction.

My family has been with American Family Insurance for as long as I can remember. Even after splitting off onto my own insurance plan from my parents I have stuck with Am Fam. In the last two years I have had two major auto accidents and Am Fam has been nothing short of amazing to work with. The phone reps are always friendly and well informed. When I call my agent I don’t feel like just a number in his client book-but rather an actual person in his community.

I like American Family Insurance because I can get through to my actual agent or his assistant whenever I need. The rates are fairly affordable and the benefits of having discounts from multiple coverage is extremely appealing. I have a fairly affordable policy on my car, and an extremely cheap policy with my motorcycle.
The most astonishing fact came from my discount for simply getting renters insurance. The cost to add renters insurance literally brought my rate below what it would be if I did not have renters insurance which is pretty impressive. I would say the downside to American Family Insurance is that their pricing isn’t extremely competitive. The largest insurance brands, Allstate, Geico, and State Farm all try to compete to have the lowest prices. American Family seems to compete only to stay around with emphasis on their agent structure rather than their pricing quotes. They are also pretty reluctant to give discounts on vehicles other than owning multiple vehicles.
While companies like Geico try to find every way possible to save you money, American Family just applies a standard rate which is pretty lackluster. Overall their model isn’t the worst and I haven’t bothered to take my business elsewhere yet. While I feel that my insurance could easily be cheaper with another company, I’m not sure that another company could offer the level of assistance I would require in the event that I actually use my insurance (an accident).
While the model of savings is great, it’s extremely invaluable in the time of actually utilizing your insurance. For that reasoning I have stuck with American Family because if I were to ever have to make a claim, I want to know who I am working with at the company.

American Family stinks.
They keep raising the rates on our cars, even though the cars get older each year.
Their local agent failed to provide a copy of the full policy after promising to do so.
We are now looking for insurance with a different company.,

American Family has reasonable rates for auto insurance. However, they don’t typically ask the right questions when they set you up so at first I tried to get a high deductible and they never even asked if the bank had a lien or not. After the bank threw a fit, we had to change it to make it lower.
They did not check my driving record each time my premium came up for renewal so that really helped me out when I got some tickets. However, they didn’t really have a good driver discount on my policy anyway so I’m not sure if it would have mattered and I may have been overpaying without that discount in the beginning.
Their billing policy was sort of screwed up in the beginning since we have a bundled plan between me and my husband and our homeowner’s insurance so it took us a while to figure out who owed what amount of money. After 3-4 years with the company our Agent just quit and we were assigned a new agent.
We switched to State Farm shortly after that because they kept raising the rates on our insurance. Overall I would say the service was lacking because the agent didn’t seem to have much control over how things were billed out. We had to ask several times to just get a letter for proof of insurance sent to the bank. Whenever I would email the agent or his secretary, I would just “hope” that they would reply so I didn’t have to go into the office to straighten things out.

The first time when I tried American Family Insurance Group I was not sure about it. I had tried many car insurances and most of them gave me unpleasant surprises. I didn’t want to happen the same thing again and I didn’t know what car insurance I was supposed to choose. I surfed on the Internet many days up to a week, but the reviews found were deplorable.
When I asked my best friend about this, he looked at me very surprised and told me: “Oh, my God, Alex, why didn’t you ask me earlier about that?” Then he told me about American Family Insurance Group and that he had been using it for over 15 years and he had no problem with it. I was unsure about his words, but I decided to try it.
When I called the customers’ service, the woman who answered the phone was very nice with me and she told me everything I wanted to know, she answered me every question. Everything seemed well. I’ve been using this car insurance for over ten years and I have to say that is a good choice for me.
My income is not very high, it’s somewhere between high and low and this helped me very much. There was no unwanted surprise, although I expected them all the time. And some time ago, when my car was seriously damaged by a careless driver, they covered the damages without any problem. I am very satisfied with this company, so satisfied that I would never use another one. And, indeed, if I’ve been using it for over ten years, this means that it is great.

I have been with American Family Insurance for about eight years. I’m the type that never uses insurance until I really need it.
I became angry a couple of years ago when American Family began using credit scores to determine premium rates. Mind you, I had never filed a claim, never got a traffic ticket, and had always paid my premiums on time, every time. No accidents, no comprehensive damage claims. But that didn’t matter, no, my rates went sky high! Almost a 200% increase! I called to voice my concerns and was told that’s just the way the industry is determining the rates now. It’s an “industry standard”.
They tried to tell me that a person with a lower credit score was at higher risk of filing claims than those with better credit. I’m sure there’s some study from somewhere they can point to that show’s something like that, but they are considering accounts that have nothing to do with insurance. I can point out studies that show that a huge percentage of American’s file bankruptcy because of staggering medical bills. Does that have anything to do with if they file auto insurance claims? I don’t think so and I believe the practice should be outlawed.
I stuck with them and was a loyal customer until I bought a new vehicle. Last month, I bought a new car and traded in my old vehicle. I called my insurance agent up to switch and he quoted me nearly $100 a month for full coverage. That’s almost more than my homeowner’s insurance! I got a much lower auto quote from Progressive and switched to them. The difference was so much that it didn’t matter that I lost the home/auto discount. The agent blew me off when I went to switch and didn’t seem to care much.
I have no complaints about Progressive Auto Insurance. They allowed me to do everything online and provided me discounts for paying the whole six month premium. I’m testing out their program that hooks a monitor to you vehicle to determine your driving habits. I think it’s a great idea and opposite of the one presented by American Family that just lumps everyone together. I like the individualized treatment from Progressive. They gave me credit for the time I was a loyal customer with American Family. So far, I’m very happy with Progressive.

My insurance company, American Family, has consistently been responsive. I have had only a few claims from car damage, and American Family has responded appropriately, quickly, and effectively in every situation.
My ex-wife, in one of her periodic fits of rage, stormed out to the garage and gunned her car backward out of the garage, swerving to dodge the repair truck in the driveway. She caught the rear-view mirror on the garage door frame and ripped it off, damaging the driver’s side door in the process. Later, she assigned to me the task of dealing with insurance. I contacted my agent at the time, and he directed me to the drive-in claim center with no judgmental comments. The drive-in claim center amazed me with their simple, straight-forward approach to my car’s damage. The repair was accomplished with minimal difficulty; the reputable shop was almost eager to deal with American Family.
Several years later, with a new and truly wonderful wife, I had moved to a much more rural area and to a different insurance agent. I had a couple of encounters with the new agent regarding changes in cars and teenage drivers and other routine matters. He and his office staff always took care of my insurance needs in a prompt and effective manner; beyond that, they were so friendly and courteous that I almost regarded them as friends.
One evening, I drove to an unfamiliar part of town to pick up my 15-year-old stepson. As I wound along a darkened road, an oncoming car crossed into my lane, so I yanked the wheel to the right. I drove up over the curb and into the undeveloped area littered with small piles of concrete and other construction debris. I was going about 45 miles per hour when I left the road, so stopping took a few minutes and a few piles of rubbish. I wasn’t hurt, and the car still ran, so I waited until the next morning to call my agent. Brian Walton guided me through the claims process like I was a family member.
The car needed extensive work on the undercarriage and suspension, with a little body work required. Brian gave me three body shops to check out. All three seemed good, and the one I chose turned out a high-quality product quickly.
I have been with American Family for almost 30 years now, and I expect to never change companies. My agent and the company provide service that truly is better than I expect. I insure the house with American Family also, and I just do not have any complaints about the coverage or service I have received.

We have insurance through American Family to cover our home and cars. We have not shopped for prices, as we have been very happy with the company and with our individual insurance office. While it might be nice to see if we could reduce the cost, we are not willing to sacrifice the coverage or services.
The office itself is in a small nearby town, rarely do we need to actually visit the office, but have on occasion. The office consists of the representative and his wife who primarily acts as assistant. They are always friendly and cooperative. As this is a small town office, the office is not fancy, but it is all they need to serve the community.
We have had minimal claims contact with the office. The most recent claim was to repair a broken windshield. We had a small rock hit the windshield of the car, and then some time later the chip grew into a large crack. We called the agent, who referred us to the claim number service. We called the claim number service, and they provided us with a list of local companies to replace the windshield. We were given the option to have the work done at our home or place of business.
As I was retired, I decided to go to the shop to have the work done. We made the appointment, and the windshield was replaced. We have no complaints regarding the insurance coverage, or services as needed as far as replacing the windshield. We had a hail storm last year, and had 1 car sitting outside at the time. It had minor hail damage. When we contacted our insurance agent, he told us based upon the minor damage we would be better off taking care of the damage ourselves, as the deductible would not be met, or even close.
As the damage was minor, we chose to not fix the dents. We have had a series of conversations with our agent regarding the level of coverage and the amount of the deductible. As our children have left home, we have increased the deductible amount as we figured the chance of an accident has greatly decreased. Per our agent’s advice as we age, we will probably reduce the deductible based upon the increased likelihood of an accident being our fault.
We have asked him to review the overall coverage on several occasions, which he has done. He has recommended some changes, other parts we have left alone. The only negative aspect is the inability to reduce the insurance on cars which are stored and not driven during the winter. We routinely have 1-2 cars which do not leave the garage during the winter.
They are placed on trickle chargers and covered. We have inquired into reducing the coverage so as not to pay full insurance on cars which are not being driven. We were told this was not an option; we could not do anything except reduce to liability only. We left the insurance as it was, and paid for full coverage over the winter months. We have been highly pleased with American Family and would recommend both the company and the individual agent. We have no intentions of switching our cars or home in the near future.

About ten years ago, I was living in Florida and I’d just purchased a used vehicle. I had to quickly find an insurance company that would cover the vehicle but it had to be inexpensive because I was on a tight budget. I called every insurance agent in my area and finally decided on American Family Insurance. Their rates were lower than any other company could offer me. The people were friendly and helpful and the policy contained all the basic services that I needed, for one, low price. (Just to give you an example, my current rate is only $30.00/month, which I consider very reasonable.
That also incluces roadside assistance.) Ten years later, I’m still with American Family Insurance, and everything that I own is now covered by their company. I’ve never been as satisfied with any other insurer. I’d recommend American Family Insurance to anyone looking for the lowest possible premiums, coupled with great service and customer-friendly people. They have locations all over the United States so, no matter where you live, you will probably be able to find one of their offices

American Family Insurance is the best insurance company we have ever been with relating to agency and claims experience. We truly appreciate their hassle free no non-sense approach. Best of all, if I call my agent on the weekend, he answers the phone everytime, no worries about a 1-800 #… Their service is the best in the industry.
We will be American Family customers for life.

I have been with American Family for over 3 years now for auto and renters insurance and I have always been very happy with them. My agent was so friendly when I initially purchased the policy and he lowered the deductibles I had with my previous company while still lowering my monthly premiums. I made it through the first 2 1/2 years with AmFam without any claims, but this year I got into an auto accident (other drivers fault) and I also had to make a claim on my renters insurance due to a burglary but I couldn’t be more happy with the service I received. AmFam handled all of the dealings with the other drivers insurance company for me when I got into the accident, saving me a considerable amount of hassle. When all was said and done, they even sent me a letter stating that I was not at fault and that the others drivers insurance company had agreed to this also. When I called to make a claim for the items that were stolen from me during the burglary, the customer service rep was very sympathetic and so helpful. My claim was processed the same day and I received reimbursement within a week. The replacement values they offered for the stolen property were very fair, as well. I have been getting quotes from other companies lately just to see if I can save myself some money and I have found that AmFam is very competitive with their premiums. I have seen increases in my premiums since I have been with AmFam, but they were negligible, consisting of less than a few dollars every month; nothing like the rate increases I experienced with my previous insurance company (where I never made a single claim, had no speeding tickets nor accidents!). Consider me a happy AmFam customer who is definitely staying put.

We have auto home and life insurance with American Family, which started out as the best price from all our bids, but went up after the first year although we had no claims. We stuck with them, however, and pretty soon we’ve began having our share of claims starting two years ago with: a $50,000 new roof, which adjusters approved and AmFam paid for without problem. Then, a few months ago, an uninsured driver hit my husband and totalled his vehicle. AmFam stepped right up and paid us well for the vehicle, which we then turned around and applied to a new vehicle — all within 10 days. Our rates have not gone up dramatically, although they have risen and have not decreased. Now, however, my husband got his first ticket in 25 years and we’ll see how that goes. Overall, one of the best insurance companies in terms of service that we’ve ever worked with.

Worst company. I paid my premiums for 10 years and when i had an accident they denied coverage for some excuse they pulled out of their butt. They let me hang out to dry and had to file bankrupcy because of all the unpaid bills.

Last post, you have a salvaged vehicle. It is a vehicle that was most likely totaled then repaired to drivable condition. If you were to take that salvaged vehicle with nothing wrong with it you would not receive comparable trade in or sale price as a non-salvaged or previously wrecked vehicle.

I am very unhappy with American family. I was hit by an uninsured motorist and I am having to argue with them to get replacement value. They say it is because it is a salvaged title but when I bought the insurance they knew it was salvaged and assured me I would get blue book if anything happened nowhere in my policy does it say anything about only getting 75%. I have been paying full premium on it for 3 yrs.All I am asking for is to put me in a comparable SUV. I am so disappointed in my insurance.

American Family is an awesome insurance company. I have had my auto insurance with American Family for five years. The service is excellent. Sometimes I need to wait a while to get a call back from someone, but I usually hear back within 24 hours. I would say I have an average driving record, but my rates are extremely low with American Family. My coverage is also above state minimum levels, and I drive a 2007 vehicle. I have moved a few times between different states and the company has made it very easy to find a new agent each time I have moved. Each agent I have encountered has been very personable and down to earth. I always recommend American Family to all of my friends and relatives.

I have been with American Family Insurance for 15 years. During that time I have had claims. One being an automobile accident, deer damage, boat damage. We have never had a problem with claims. The claim process works very quick and the company is fast with getting the claim complete. The time I had my automobile accident I was only 18 at the time and at that time I was only given a surcharge that I had to pay due to the accident. Being young I was very grateful for only that. In addition to their claim service
I find that their premiums are very competitive. Over the years and I have checked out other insurance companies to see if I could save myself some money. However, American Family has always been quite a bit lower than the competition. I would recommend American Family Insurance to anyone!

My Auto Insurance Company is great. When I had an accident, my agent was right there for me. An adjuster was in contact with me within 24 hours of me making my claim. Everything went very smoothly and my car was fixed within the time they said it was. I used a preferred auto body shop, so I didn’t have to do any of the work. The claims office and my agent did EVERYTHING for me. I’m fortunate enough to have an agent that not only helped me with my claim in the first place, but throughout the whole process. My rates didn’t even increase after my accident, the company was very forgiving.. I’ve recommended to all of my friends!!

I had been with American Family for about ten years. Never had a problem. My agent used to sit down with me once a year and review my coverage and help me save some money. He stopped doing that a few years ago. When my son turned 16 I added him to my policy. We expected the price to go up and it did. My son got a speeding ticket (doing 35 in a 25 mile zone) and my car insurance doubled.
We had our homeowners insurance with them as well, in order to get a multi-policy discount. They ran a credit check on us and raised our rates again, both on our homeowners and auto policies. My son left to join the military and we removed his car and him as a driver from our policy. THEY DID NOT LOWER THE RATES. I couldn’t believe it. I called and asked them to justify that. They didn’t even try to explain it. They just kept saying something about our policy price is based on several things, including driving record, etc. My husband has no moving violations, I had one speeding ticket two years ago.
We switched companies a few days later, and the cost is about a third of what we were paying previously. They didn’t run a credit check. I don’t even think they took our SSNs.

I have been with the above named insurance company for three years now. I have trusted them for not only auto, but my home as well. They have given me excellent service, my agent is always availble and returns calls promptly. Their claims department works very quickly on obtaining the info needed and getting repairs done or submitting payment.
They have been very helpful in any inquiry about business insurance as well. If it is an area which they do not cover, they are willing to locate names and numbers of individuals who do handle these types of insurance. I have been completely satisfied with my company and look forward to a long relationship for years to come I have been fortunate enough that my agent is a local man who understands the needs of the community.

I have been a customer of American Family Insurance for just about eight years now. I receive excellent coverage for a great price. I love the fact that my agent’s office is located right in my hometown. I can speak to him face to face rather than over the telephone. He is always available to discuss my policy and any concerns I have. I used to drop my payments off directly at the office, but now I make my payments online which is even more convenient.
I have only had to file one claim when I hit a deer on the interstate. I only had to make one phone call throughout the whole ordeal! My agent handled everything. I had a rental car delivered to my home the very next morning. My van was totalled in the accident, but I was driving a new one in no time. No hassles at all! I probably pay a few bucks more a year than other companies, but that few bucks is well worth the peace of mind that comes with American Family. I won’t insure my vehicles through any other company. I highly recommend them to all of my friends and family.

American Family Insurance has done a great job for me. First off, rates have tended to go down over the years I have been with them, so that is very nice.
Also, the one time I have had a claim to make was when my husband ran into the back of the car I was driving. I called the company and they completely handled the whole thing. I had been driving a rental car and they dealt with the rental company. For that claim, I did not pay a penny. Now, I had been with the company about six years with no other claims and I am a very careful driver. I don’t have any points on my license at all. I also pay the whole year’s policy at once. So, those are factors that I am sure influenced the fact that I did not pay anything on this claim. But it was a great relief to know that the whole thing was taken care of–and my rates even went down the next time I paid my premium.
