Long Beach Car Insurance Beyond the Requirements

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 07/14/2013

For good protection, your Long Beach car insurance should be more than just the mandatory liability required.

long beach car insurance

Will your current Long Beach car insurance coverage protect you if you vehicle is stolen?

Long Beach car insurance requirements are established by the State of California to protect the people you hit with your vehicle. They are also in place to protect you from financial disaster if you cause an accident, but in reality the amount of coverage that is required by California is not enough for how expensive vehicle repair and medical expenses are today.

To make sure you are truly protected, you need to purchase more than the minimum amount of liability coverage that is needed to keep your vehicle registered in California. In addition to liability coverage, you also should talk to your insurance agent about Long Beach car insurance coverage that also protects your own vehicle. Because even if you don’t think that you will ever be in a car accident, other things can happen to your vehicle that can be protected by car insurance.

Mandatory Long Beach Car Insurance

The absolute minimum amount of Long Beach car insurance that you need to be able to drive and maintain a current vehicle registration is:

  • $15,000 in coverage for the medical expenses you a liable for if you injure another person with your car.
  • $30,000 in coverage for the medical expenses you a liable for if you injure more than one person with your car.
  • $5,000 in coverage to pay for damages to another person’s property that you cause with your vehicle.

As you can see the coverages are not really enough to cover much of anything, especially if you cause a serious car accident. To make sure you have enough coverage in the event you total another person’s vehicle (how many vehicles do you know of that cost $5,000 to replace?) or kill someone, talk to your insurance agent.

Any expenses that you are liable for above and beyond the amount of Long Beach car insurance coverage that you have will have to be paid out of your own pocket.

Other Suggested Long Beach Car Insurance

So, let’s pretend that you are invincible and that you never get into a car accident. Your vehicle never gets damaged either by someone else that has no insurance or by an accident caused by you that results in damages to your vehicle.

But, what if your vehicle is stolen?

In 2012, Long Beach had 2,622 vehicles stolen; which is 421 more than they had in 2011. And that minimum liability coverage that you have on your vehicle will not pay to replace your vehicle if yours ends up being one of the ones taken. Liability coverage is only for the damage YOU do to another person or vehicle; it does not protect your stuff.

To prevent from having to scramble to buy another vehicle with money out of your own pocket, you might want to think about getting insurance protection that will pay you for the value of your stolen vehicle so you can get another. Your insurance agent will be able to walk you through what additional coverages that you need to add to your Long Beach car insurance policy to protect yourself in addition to the required coverages you already have.

Parking and Using Sacramento Car Insurnace For Driving Protection

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 07/13/2013

Sacramento car insurance coverage will protect you from penalties while driving in the capital, but only common sense will protect you when parking there.

Sacramento Car Insurance

You didn’t need Sacramento car insurance or have to worry about parking when the railroad was the main mode of transportation in Sacramento.

Sacramento is a great place to visit because of the historical sites and significance that this capital city has for the western part of the United States. But when you are visiting, be attentive to the changing direction of the streets, the parking rules that change according to time of day, and the car insurance requirements.

Sacramento Parking

Parking in Sacramento is an interesting experience in itself, especially downtown. You have to pay close attention to the parking signs along the street because parking rules do change during the day.

Sacramento is also the only city I have ever been to that issues you a parking sticker to attach to the window of your vehicle when you pay for the time in your parking spot. I am used to just getting a stub to throw on my dashboard or needing nothing at all because a computer has logged my time in my spot.

When you do get your sticker from the parking machine, pay very close attention to the directions of where and how to put the sticker on your vehicle. The sticker has to be in a specific location for the parking police to easily see it, or they will issue you a parking ticket like you didn’t pay for parking at all.

I messed mine up because the directions didn’t make sense to me, but I luckily didn’t get a ticket. Maybe they had mercy on me because I had out-of-state plates and they just chalked it up to me being a redneck from Idaho. Good thing they didn’t know that I am actually a California native, then.

Sacramento Car Insurance

In addition to having to pay attention to parking in Sacramento, you also need to pay attention to Sacramento car insurance coverage requirements. Because the State of California actually sets the car insurance requirements for the whole state, if you pay attention to the Sacramento car insurance requirements you will be good for all the cities in the state.

The minimum coverage that you can have for car insurance and still be driving legally is:

  • $15,000 in liability coverage for the medical expenses for any person not in your vehicle that you injure with your car.
  • $30,000 in liability coverage for all medical expenses total for multiple people that you may injure with your vehicle that are not in your car.
  • $5,000 in coverage to pay for damages to another person’s property that you cause with your vehicle.

Driving without these Sacramento car insurance coverages can leave you with a suspended vehicle registration and even an impounded vehicle.

Fresno Car Insurance and Courts

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 07/13/2013

Fresno courts have something for every age group.

Fresno Car Insurance

Fresno likes to include everyone, especially when it comes to obeying traffic laws like carrying Fresno car insurance.

Not having Fresno car insurance is just one of the many different types of traffic citations you can earn in Fresno. But regardless of what traffic citation you do end up with, Fresno is prepared to help those in every age level. From temp daycare being provided for young children when their parents have a court date and young drivers having their own traffic citations to the new laws that decrease the fine for adults getting caught without car insurance, Fresno has everyone covered.

Daycare in Fresno Courts

For parents that have to go to court for Fresno traffic citations they can bring their kids to court with them. No, the little ones will not be in the actual courtroom, but will instead be in the children’s waiting room in the main courthouse.

For a parent to be able to put a child in the children’s waiting room while they are in court, they must abide by the following rules that are listed on the Superior Court of California, County of Fresno website:

• “The Children’s Waiting Rooms are available to children 6 months and older. Children 13 years of age and older may use the Children’s Waiting Room to assist with supervising younger siblings or as approved by the Site Aide.

• The Children’s Waiting Rooms are open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (closed during the lunch hour), Monday through Friday excluding Court Holidays and Court Closure Days.

• Children must be picked up no later than noon when the room closes during the lunch hour and immediately upon completion of their business with the Court.

• Parents must fill out a registration form, provide photo identification issued by a governmental agency and sign and acknowledge receipt of the Children’s Waiting Rooms Parent’s Rules. Registration forms and Parent’s Rules are available in English and Spanish. (English)(Spanish)

• A child can only be picked up by the Parent(s) or authorized adult(s) on the registration form.

• Children’s Waiting Room staff are unable to give any child medication.

• Parents will not be able to leave ill/contagious children at the Children’s Waiting Room.

• Parents are encouraged to bring diapering supplies if necessary.”

Juvenile Traffic Citations

Those under the age of 18 are apparently ticketed differently than adults are as far as traffic citations in Fresno. Juveniles have their own set of rules and specifically listed “Juvenile Traffic citations”.

To handle a Juvenile Traffic citation the violator can show up at their specific court date or they can just pay the citation and get their court appearance waived if their citation is for the following:

  • Seat Belt Violation
  • Pedestrian Crossing Violation
  • Jay Walking Violation
  • Riding a Bike on the Mall

If the citation is marked as correctable it can be cleared via “signed-off citation” and a $25.00 fee through the mail, or at a Traffic counter with the $25.00 fee.

No Fresno Car Insurance

Not having Fresno car insurance will get you a traffic citation whether you are a juvenile driver or an adult. California takes its car insurance requirements very seriously, which is why they electronically track what cars are covered and which ones are not. Once your car insurance company notifies the state that you are no longer insured with them they take action against you.

And while the State of California takes care of most of the car insurance violations throughout the state, you can still get a traffic violation at the city level if you are pulled over and don’t have Fresno car insurance.

Tucson Car Insurance And Vintage Traffic Laws

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 07/08/2013

Tucson keeps alive its vintage traffic laws while still keeping up with current car insurance and parking issues.

tucson car insurance

Tucson is a nice combination of vintage and modern.

Tucson car insurance laws are the newer of the traffic laws that are enforced in the city. The older laws that were created in 1953 set the base for the current traffic laws, like the mandatory Tucson car insurance laws, that are in place.

Vintage Traffic Laws in Tucson

Unlike with the older East Coast cities, vintage for Tucson goes back to 1953. After all, Tucson was not established until 1885 and it took a little longer for the first motor vehicles to make it out west than it did for them to get to cities like New York and Boston.

Many of these vintage laws in the Tucson City Code are still in effect today because they are just as relevant now as they were back then

It is illegal to drive over a fire hose without permission

It is illegal to follow and be within 500 feet of any emergency vehicle that is responding to a call for help.

Whenever a street crosses another street that is designated as a “through” street city engineers must put stop signs at the intersection to stop the flow of traffic on the “non-through” street. (I wish the city engineers here in Idaho would have to abide by a common sense law like this)

Parking Laws in Tucson

It’s interesting to note that most of the parking laws in the Tucson City Code were not put in place until 1999. I would be curious as to the reason behind why it took until this time to need these laws. Did people in Tucson have more parking common sense prior to 1999?

Just looking through the Tucson City Code there also seem to be a lot more parking laws than there are moving laws. In fact, there are so many parking laws that it would be impossible to know where to begin to try and help you.

If you are concerned with parking in Tucson, you can easily access the Tucson City Code on the internet. A good dose of common sense and paying attention to parking signs in Tucson will also go a long way in keeping you from getting a parking ticket.

Current Tucson Car Insurance Laws

In addition to the parking laws and vintage (but still valid) traffic laws, there are also Tucson car insurance laws. These car insurance laws are actually created by the state for everyone in the state to follow, but they are enforced on the city level.

In Tucson, you are required to carry:

  • $15,000 in liability coverage for the medical expenses of a single person (not in your vehicle) that you injure)
  • $30,000 in liability coverage for the medical expenses of 2 or more people that you injure
  • $10,000 in liability coverage that pays for the damages you cause to another person’s property that you cause with your vehicle.

If you are not driving your vehicle, you don’t have to keep insurance coverage on it. Arizona is one of the only states where you can de-insure your vehicle without having to turn in your plates or get our registration suspended.

Just don’t forget to register the de-insurance on your vehicle with the Arizona Department of Transportation when you drop your Tucson car insurance, or you will get your registration suspended.

Happy Independence Day from Car Insurance Guidebook

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 07/04/2013

Have a safe Independence Day for both your life and your car insurance.

Independence Day

Pay attention to the road this Independence Day to prevent your car insurance premium from exploding.

From all of us here at Car Insurance Guidebook we want to wish you a fun and safe Independence Day. Be safe while you are grilling, be safe while you are setting off fireworks, and most importantly be safe while you are driving.

Being careless today, especially when driving, can lead to financial issues you don’t want to deal with later down the road. Financial issues where the increase in your car insurance is just the beginning.

Don’t Let Fireworks Increase Your Car Insurance

It’s hard not to want to watch the fireworks going off all around you on the 4th of July. But if you are trying to watch the fireworks and drive at the same time you are just asking for a car accident to happen.

If there is a flurry of fireworks going on or the main display from your city has started, pull the car off the road and watch the fireworks. It is never a good thing to try and do two things at once especially when it is driving and enjoying the excitement and awe of colorful things blowing up in the sky.

If you can’t stop or you don’t want to stop, then keep your focus on the road.

Keeping Focused Will Keep Your Car Insurance Down

Aerial fireworks are not the only thing you need to prevent being distracted by this Independence Day. You also need to keep your eyes out for children running the streets with sparklers and ones that are not being supervised by parents distracted by friends while at BBQ’s.

Also keep aware of people setting off ground fireworks on the streets you are driving down. Even though these are usually adults, they are paying attention to the fireworks they are setting off and not the cars wanting to drive down the road. So you need to be the one on the lookout to keep both yourself and them safe.

Driving Drunk = Increased Car Insurance Premium

Independence Day has got to be the dumbest time in the entire year for people to drink and drive. First, the cops are on emphasis patrols to catch drink drivers, so right there your odds have increased that you are going to get pulled over and caught.

Second, there are too many distractions on the road already because of the holiday that sober drivers sometimes have a hard time not getting in an accident. How are you going to be able to navigate these same distractions after you have been drinking and not get in an accident? And remember that accident will again lead to getting caught by the police for drunk driving.

So this Independence Day, chill on the booze and enjoy another refreshing beverage to celebrate.
