Details of Fayetteville Car Insurance

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 08/17/2014

Every wonder what is really covered under that required Fayetteville Car Insurance?

Fayetteville car insurance

Just because you have to purchase Fayetteville car insurance, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t know what you are buying.

All drivers know that they are required to carry liability coverage on the Fayetteville car insurance in order to be able to drive. This requirement was created by the State of North Carolina and is required of every driver in the state, no matter where they live in the state.

However, even though drivers know that it is a requirement, most of them have no idea what these coverages actually take care of if they were to ever cause an accident.

Bodily Injury Coverage of Fayetteville Car Insurance

The required bodily injury liability coverage only pays for damages to other people that were not in your vehicle at the time of an accident that was your fault. This coverage pays for medical bills, funeral expenses, disability payments, lost wages, rehab treatments (physical therapy, etc.), pain and suffering settlements, legal expenses, and law suits.

Property Damage Coverage of Fayetteville Car Insurance

Property damage liability coverage pays for damages that you cause to another person’s property. This can include a vehicle, a home, a yard, or even traffic devices and equipment owned and maintained by a government entity (stop signs, guardrails, etc.). This coverage will pay to repair the damage you have done, or if it cannot be repaired then actual cash value will be offered for the item.

Supplementary Payments of Fayetteville Car Insurance

Supplementary payments are payments that are made in addition to the above coverages. Your agent can give you the details of your policy’s specific limits for these coverage and any exclusions that may apply.

These supplementary payments can include:

  1. Emergency first aid administered to others at the scene of the accident
  2. Bail bonds
  3. The premiums on appeal bonds and bonds to release attachments
  4. Loss of wages due to attending hearings and trials at the insurance company’s request
  5. Other reasonable expenses accrued due to the insurance company’s request

Please take note that these items that are paid out by your insurance company are just about always for someone else other than you. If you want your interests protected also, talk to your Fayetteville car insurance agent about what other coverages you need on your vehicle to protect yourself.

How Much Car Insurance Do You Need?

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 08/09/2014

State required car insurance limits are hardly ever enough.

When purchasing car insurance there are usually two groups of people. The first group just wants the bare minimum that they can get away with to be able to legally drive in their state. The second group wants to know how much car insurance coverage they really need to be protected financially if they ever are in a car accident.

For those that are in the second group, here is a great infographic from Bankrate.com to give you an idea where to start. Before you choose your own car insurance cover limits though, always consult your car insurance agent first.

How Auto Insurance Compares

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 11/06/2014

You may be surprised to learn that auto insurance doesn’t account for as much of your expenses as you think.

It is no secret that people don’t like paying for car insurance.  They are forced to purchase it, and unless they get into an accident it’s something that is paid for but is never used.

In the past we have talked extensively about how important it is to have car insurance, so we won’t cover that again today. Instead, we found this interesting graphic from Answer Financial that shows just how much of your income that auto insurance really uses, compared to other expenses in your life.

Yes, the numbers are from 2010, but the comparison still holds true today.

Minimum Modesto Car Insurance is Bad

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 07/28/2014

Carrying the minimum amount of Modesto car insurance is really not something you should do.

modesto car insurance

Don’t get yourself in a prickly position by not having enough Modesto car insurance.

Most Modesto drivers assume that the State of California requires a Modesto car insurance with state minimum coverage be purchased before they are able to drive their vehicle.  This is only partially true.

The State of California does not require that a car insurance policy be purchased, but rather some form of Financial Responsibility to show that you can pay for the aftermath of a car accident that you cause. Just be aware that the minimums that are required by California aren’t even close to what a car accident can cost financially.

Proof of Financial Responsibility

As long as you have one of the following, the State of California will allow you to register your vehicle and drive:

  1. Motor vehicle liability insurance policy
  2. Cash deposit of $35,000 with DMV
  3. DMV-issued self-insurance certificate
  4. Surety bond for $35,000 from a company licensed to do business in California

Modesto Car Insurance Requirements

If you choose to go with having a motor vehicle liability insurance policy as your financial responsibility, it has to carry at least the following coverage:

  • $15,000 for injury/death to one person
  • $30,000 for injury/death to more than one person
  • $5,000 for damage to property

Minimum Requirements Not Enough

When was the last time you were able to buy a brand new car in Modesto for $5,000?

If you cause a car accident that ends up with the other person’s vehicle having to be totaled, you are on the hook for buying them a new car. Oh sure, your car insurance company will pay for the first $5,000 of it, but you will have to find a way to pay for the rest.

With the average price of a new car or truck being around $32,000 (Kelley Blue Book), that $5,000 payment from your Modesto car insurance company will still leave you with $27,000 to make up for.  If you can’t pay for that all at once, you might get lucky and they will allow you to make payments  and if you are still making payments on your car that will leave you making two car payments for a number of years. Can you afford to make two car payments?

So talk to your Modesto car insurance agent today about getting a decent amount of insurance coverage to protect you from financial distress in the future.

Lacking Des Moines Car Insurance

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 07/27/2014

Not having Des Moines car insurance is just one way to keep yourself off the road.

Des Moines car insurance

Don’t lose your driver’s license just because you don’t want Des Moines car insurance.

Driving is a privilege that most people think is a right. They believe that being able to drive is something that cannot be taken away from them, so they make stupid decisions when they are behind the wheel.

But, don’t think that your driver’s license is a right, because it can be taken away from you a lot easier than it was for you to get it in the first place.

Drive Sober

From the Iowa Department of Transportation’s website, the Operating While Intoxicated law says that you cannot operate a vehicle if:

  1. While under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or other drug or a combination of such substances.
  2. While having an alcohol concentration of .08 or more.
  3. While having any amount of a controlled substance in one’s body.

Iowa’s implied consent law means that any person who operates a motor vehicle in the state agrees to have a blood, breath and/or urine test performed to determine alcohol level or presence of drugs, whenever a peace officer has reasonable grounds to believe the person is operating under the influence.

Violating this law will leave you lacking a regular driver’s license.

Drive Safe

  • You can also lose your license if you:
  • Are habitually reckless or negligent
  • Have 3 or more convictions for moving traffic violations within a year
  • Fail to pass an exam
  • Have a mental or physical condition that prevents you driving safely
  • Didn’t pay a fine, penalty or surcharge or court costs from a traffic ticket
  • Have been convicted for excessive speeding
  • Received a traffic violation that contributed to a fatality

Drive with Active Des Moines Car Insurance

Although driving without insurance may not seem like a dangerous act, the State of Iowa has deemed it dangerous enough to take away your driver’s license if you do. If you want to keep your driver’s license the following Des Moines insurance coverages need to be purchased:

  • $20,000 bodily injury liability coverage
  • $40,000 bodily injury liability coverage (per accident)
  • $15,000 property damage coverage

Car Insurance Guidebook Unravels the Car Insurance Mystery

Unless you work in the car insurance industry, the topic is probably a mystery to you. The words deductible, comprehensive, collision, liability, premium, loss of use and bodily injury are all gibberish when they reach your ears.

Unfortunately, insurance is something that you are required to have by law if you want to drive. Because of how confusing it is many people go around in almost an insurance daze while they get car insurance quotes from the auto insurance companies that they have heard of. In reality, they are completely lost as to what they are actually buying.

Instead of looking at what each insurance company offers in the terms of protection for both themselves and their car, they are instead looking for cheap car insurance. Finding the cheapest car insurance coverage makes having to buy the required product all that much less painful, but misses the whole point of having insurance.

Learning about insurance through your insurance agent or websites like Car Insurance Guidebook will give you the upper hand when you looking for car insurance. You can take your knowledge and not only find the best price for insurance, you can use it to find really great insurance to protect you and your assets. Then you aren’t stuck settling for just average car insurance that can hurt you financially if you ever need it because there isn’t enough protection.

For example, when looking for insurance the car insurance rates are just the first of many factors that need to be taken into account when you are shopping around for car insurance. You also need to take into account the type of vehicle that you are driving. Many people don’t know this.

Are you driving around a vehicle that is a new sedan and can be protected under any blanket insurance policy? Or do you have an old car that you fixed up that needs special protection and could be better covered under classic car insurance?

Don’t just assume that when you compare car insurance that it will be a one-size-fits-all policy. This is where the insurance knowledge will come in handy; you will know what you need to protect yourself and your vehicle.

You will understand what your insurance agent is talking about when they use insurance terms and you will actually be able to make an informed decision. This is much better for you instead of the “nod and smile” approach people take in their insurance agent’s office.

Also just like your life changes your insurance needs will change. This year you may just need to learn about the best deductible to have. Next year you may need to educate yourself on car insurance for young drivers. As the years pass, motorcycle insurance may be something you will need to know.

Many wise people say that you never stop learning, so take their advice and educate yourself on the insurance that you spend a lot of money on and can’t get away with not having.
