I have been insuring with Progressive for a year. I was a longtime member of USAA insurance but dropped them a few years back after a
protracted dispute and went with GEICO. The premium I received from GEICO was the best I
could find in Florida (better than Progressive).
We went from a 2-car family, to a single vehicle, in a move to
California last year, and GEICO’s premium was going to be HIGHER for a single car, than what I
paid in FL for 2 cars! So I checked all the major insurers, and Progressive had the best
rate for California; by several hundred dollars! So, we are now with Progressive and have
had no reason to regret the move.
It’s up to us, as consumers, to monitor the amount I pay for products. Until Progressive gives me a reason to dislike paying less, I will stay
with them. The switch was easy to do. Progressive’s web site is great. I printed temporary insurance cards right off the web site, and the insurance activation date was set for precisely the day I wanted. No hassles at all.
Progressive’s site allows you to tailor your insurance quote, and your coverage, quickly and easily. I have not had any reason to make a claim, and so have no reliable information on claims service for Progressive, but setting up the insurance was a breeze, and I have no reason to regret the switch. If a solid company like USAA can try to screw you over, like they did me, I look for the best premium, and try to know my rights. Progressive is giving me the best premium for California, so I’m happy!

I have been with Progressive insurance for about 5 years now. If someone were to ask me what I liked best about being with them, it would have to be that anytime during the year I can walk in one of their respective outlets and receive very personal service that always results in a smile.
Whether it is for a simple replacement card or document, informing me of the various alternative insurance companies that are in the area that I could use, or even something as simple as switching insurance from one car another, these people have done it all with no questions asked. Even at seemingly random times they will mail or email me about a new product or secure an even better rate.
An example of their great service would be a few years ago when I was driving to my new home. We were in the process of moving a trailer to a new location, and I decided to use an old back road to get their quicker in preparation. As I came around a curve, the sun seemed to instantly come out of a cloud to blind me, and as I was fumbling around for the sun visor, I ran into a huge coal truck. My windshield was smashed and my pride injured, yet the car was still drivable.
The first thing I did was call my company to report the incident, to which they first asked me if I was ok, which made me feel respected and valued. They then informed me that they would handle everything on their side. Their reassurance during a time of great stress was amazing, and I would gladly recommend anyone to their company.

I recently had to put in a claim with my insurance company, Progressive, for an auto glass replacement. This was the first time I had ever made an insurance claim and I had no idea what to expect. I was able to make my claim online at any time and a representative called me the next morning. She was friendly and helpful and put me at ease. She explained what the process was, found an auto glass repair company in my area and made an appointment for them to come to my house and replace my windshield. I was not at all inconvenienced and actually came out of a stressful situation feeling better. I received a follow up email asking if I was happy with my service shortly after. I would recommend Progressive to anyone looking for insurance.

Fresh news to Ohio drivers. Once again Progressive is raising our rates. Claiming rise in cost of business is the reason. Says it just to Ohio drivers only. Progressive is loosing two policies by raising my rates. Customer rep said ” we care about you, you are a important customer”. So why are you raising my rates when I pay ahead and have no claims. So long Flow and all your company’s price hiking.

After two years with Progressive, I’ve realized that their catch is that you get a low rate, but every 6 months, they try to increase that rate for no partictular reason (ie no claims/nothing’s changed), sometimes up to $10 a month for me, which adds up to a lot yearly. The first time I complained and they re-quoted me as a new customer and got it down lower with a new policy, but here I am six months later getting an increase again. I had one claim with them for a hit and run on my parked car and things went smoothly, but I’m shopping around for someone new.

While shopping for auto rates, Progressive was in the middle as far as fair rates. The determining factor for purchasing Progressive over the other carriers was the friendliness of their Customer Service Representatives and the flexability of paying for the policy. The down payment rates were very competitive compared to others which was a huge plus. Most customers would rather pay a low down payment and slightly higher monthly premiums. That is something that Progressive recognizes.
I felt as though I could have customer loyalty with this company until my car broke down and I ended up terminating the policy. I was totally unaware of the early termination policy and was never told up front. Since my car was no longer operable, it made no sense to continue to insure the vehicle. What a mistake!
A few weeks later I received a bill in the mail for $147. I could not understand why I was being billed this amount when I cancelled my policy. I called customer service and as usual they were very polite and friendly. At this point their friendliness did not matter since I thought they were in the wrong. I was informed that the amount was for the days my car was still insured. That amount did not seem accurate. I asked for a break down of the charges and how the bill came to be $147 but the numbers did not add up. I eventually spoke to a manager and was advised that was the amount of the remainder of the policy. Well that made a little bit more sense.
Literally a few weeks later, I called Progressive back to reinstate the policy since the balance owed was only $147. That was not possible. I would have to pay the total amount owed first, then complete another application for a new policy, with a higher down payment and higher rates! I have never had any car accidents and no tickets. I really pride myself on my driving record so to go through this process all over again, really upset me. In the age of technology I could not pick up my policy where it left off? Other insurance carriers would allow you to do that. Needless to say I took my business elsewhere.
A few months later I pulled my credit report and to my surprise Progressive had put the balance of $147 on my credit report. I received no collection notices, no warnings, or anything stating it would be reported to my credit file! I am so glad I did not purchase other products through this company. As of today, the amount of $147 remains on my credit. I can pay it but I refuse to because I feel as if they violated me by not allowing me to resolve it before placing it on my credit for the world to see. So now it is my turn to share my story for the world to see.
My overall rating for the company is a one. In regards to price, I would rate them a three. I would give customer service a five hands down. I cannot honestly give a rating for handling claims. I will never forget my experience with Progressive and their shady business practices.

Progressive has been a completely indifferent experience for me. After getting a reasonable quote online, I decided to sign up for a policy. After a year of watching commercials on the television about how much money I could save (safe driver discounts, Snapshot discounts, etc.) I decided to call and inquire, since my rates had never gone down in spite of never having accidents or tickets. I was told by the agent on the phone that I was not entitled to any discounts for safe driving, the snapshot was not available in my area, and that even though I have never had an accident or ticket since I got my license, I could receive no discounts. I was disappointed in general until I realized that the rates were lower than everyone else’s rates either way. My safe record means nothing, but it’s still cheap.
When my car finally broke down and needed to be sent to the junkyard, the process for cancellation was relatively easy. One phone call, five minutes on hold, and two minutes of conversation was all it took. The only part of that process that made me uncomfortable was the continued attempts to sell me additional “just in case” policies. No thank you.
As far as insurance companies go, I give them Two out of Five. Just good enough for me not to hate them. Thanks, I guess.

I have Progressive insurance with my boyfriend. I really like the discounts Progressive offers. We used the Snapshot discount program and after 6 months received the 20%.
We are about to add another car to the policy. It will increase the premium by a lot. To add my 2012 Chevy Malibu to the policy, it will go up about $140 dollars. With a student discount, it will decrease that about $15. However, to register the car in our current, new zip code, the student discount is useless because it increases the premium back up to the original $140 addition. I think it’s beyond ridiculous that they change the rates. We still live in a nice area of town, and even though the zip code encompasses a bad section of town as well, we get punished.
I love Progressive, and it is the cheapest insurance down here in New Mexico, it’s just not very fair. I think that they should get rid of premium charges by zip code completely and base it off the car and driver’s records.
Overall, I used to think of Progressive only positively, but now, finding out about this, have still have a positive view, it’s just a bit tarnished

CUSTOMER’S MESSAGE
Subject: I have a question about my policy
Message: I have been with Progressive for many years. In that time I have not made a claim or received a ticket, yet my premium has increased the past two billing cycles. Explain to me why my premium is increasing and why I shouldn’t just go elsewhere for auto insurance.
Dear ——-,
The higher premium that you see is without the Paid in full Discount. If you pay the renewal premium in full the total amount due is $192.00.
Sincerely,
Debra H.
Progressive Internet Representative
To: Progressive
That’s correct, and $192 is more than I have paid for a few years. Of course, being a customer service rep you should already know that. Is it too much to ask for an explanation as to why you are charging me more for the same product?
Dear ——-,
Thank you for contacting Progressive. I appreciate this opportunity to assist you.
Many factors affect auto insurance premiums. […] Our total costs are going up due to:
– Bodily injury claims
– Medical claims
– Weather-related claims
– Regulatory requirements
These increased costs affect the premiums of all drivers, not just those who have accidents. […] The results of our recent review indicated that it was necessary to increase our premium. […]
Thank you for choosing Progressive. We appreciate the trust you place in us.
Sincerely,
Claudia F.
Progressive Internet Representative
To: Progressive
So, according to your cut and paste response, after 7 years of paying around $1/day (more than $2500 total) for nothing more than an insurance ID card, you expect me, along with other good drivers, to pay more to cover other people’s claims!? This is not group coverage, I will not pay more for Progressive’s bad decisions. Applying another discount I should’ve already been receiving if eligible will not change the fact that I am paying more than I would have a year ago.
Will you lower my rate or would you prefer to not have my $1/day in exchange for a laminated piece of paper?
Dear ——-,
We encourage our customers to compare Progressive’s rates with those of other insurance companies. If you find a lower price elsewhere, we ask that you also consider the value and service you currently enjoy. […]
Sincerely,
Rochelle C.

This insurance company was by far the cheapest insurance I could have gotten. All their Coverage was very very fair. Plus with name your own price policy there is nothing you can lose with sighning up for a policy with this good company. You can either request a fair policy online or giving them a call, one of the friendly customer service reps. are waiting 24/7. And if you need a(n)instant policy number just fill out a few forms online through progressive.com and vela! Instant policy.
This insurance company is the cheapest and most reliable that I have found through alittle research. And if you need to file a claim, this is also very easy either call the via 1-800-progressive, their website using your own user and password, or if you happen to have a smart phone, you can get a free application. Which you can also view and pay your bill, very simple indeed. This company also has a few other options for you coverage like; roadside assistance, rental re-reimbursement, pet coverage also. All at low or no cost to you(depending on your sellected coverage plan).
This coverage is nationwide not just in select states like some other insurance companies.

What I like best about being with Progressive for my auto insurance is having access with them 24 hours a day. I work during most of the day, so it is nice to be able to take care of my insurance stuff after 5pm or on the weekends. Whether that be to add a vehicle, make a payment, or just having a general account question, I know I can call at my convenience. Fortunately, I have not had a claim, so I can not speak to that, but whenever I call with a question, I hardly have to wait on the line and they are able to answer my questions very quickly. Their website is also easy to use and I can play around with my coverage to see if its worth switching coverage. The price is also very attractive. I feel like I pay a fair price for my coverage, although I dislike my policy going up a few dollars each 6 months. I have been accident free and my car is getting older. I think that my price go down a little or stay the same based on my history. The only other thing I do not really care for is that I get a different person each time I call in. So instead of someone being familiar with me, I have to kind of relay everything each time I talk to a Progressive representative. I do miss that about being with an agent. It was nice for them to know me and my family and what my needs are, but overall, I am really pleased with Progressive. I would recommend them to my family and friends.

I was involved in a moderate auto accident on August 27, 2012. I called the 800 number on my insurance card and I got a friendly, knowledgeable customer service representative who seemed to be truly concerned about my welfare, as well as the welfare of the other driver… which was beyond amazing. Within the next 20 minutes or so, there was a progressive agent driving up to be right by my side. I had a rental car while my car was being fixed, and within the next week, my car was repaired without any extra money coming out of my pocket.
In addition, every time I have ever contacted a Progressive insurance customer service representative over the phone, I have gotten stellar service. I have always been pleasantly surprised by Progressive’s customer service because each encounter with them has been unlike the typical call center experience where you get different answers to the same question , and they do not seem to care.
At Progressive, they all seem to be well trained, well informed of company policies and procedures, and they are all on the same page. It is quite evident that Progressive agents are sticklers for quality customer care. I shopped around quite a bit before I chose Progressive Insurance, and I found a few companies that charged a little less.
My sister has Progressive and she raves about their service, so I felt that I would be making a good decision even if it costs a little more; as it turns out, my decision was right. I absolutely love Progressive Insurance and I will never go with any auto insurance provider. I wish more companies were like Progressive.

I switched to Progressive about 9 months ago, when we moved from Florida to California. Progressive did not offer the best rate in Florida, but as I prepared for the move out to L.A. and checked on the transfer of our policy with Brand Gecko, their rate was outrageous and I began the search for something reasonable. Progressive was the answer. I checked quite a few other insurers, and no one beat Progressive in California for us.
We all have different situations and driving records, so it really IS important to check around when you are getting a policy. Progressive has been very easy to work with. You get the idea that ‘Flo’ is back there in the office, cracking her whip and keeping the crew in line, because it has been so smooth. We manage the payments on-line, but whenever we have wanted to talk with a person, they have been fantastic.
When you are shopping for car insurance, make sure you give Progressive a call, or check out their internet site. You can enter all your data, and work up a quote without having to speak with anyone. Once you do speak with a rep, you may find that they can give you a better deal than you found on-line. When it’s time to move again, we will check the rates for our new location, but if no one beats Progressive by more than 5% or so, we’ll stay with them.

My wife and I for last 2 years had a bad experience with Progressive auto policy regarding increasing their price every 6 months when the policy renewal is due, even without any traffic violations or accidents for both of us. When we call to find out why our premium is higher for the next 6 months they say Oh it is nationwide price increase. The catch was the first 6 months when we started our policy, then around couple hundreds increase every other 6 months. I wonder why they don’t give you a straight full year policy. Beside pricing we didn’t use progressive service to give our feedback. Now we are switching our auto policy to another insurance company and the saving is around $650 for the full year.

Progressive is a widely known company and Im sure some do not think they can be good because they are so big. But in my experience with them they are wonderful. They explain things to you, and have a great website for payments or documents. We make payments online and I have no worries that they are a secure website. Online you have all your documents that you can view print or save anytime you like. And when you renew your policy you get discounts and have all new documents online to review. With new policies you do have to send in a copy of your license but still the policy is active from day one and you can print a temporary card online right away even at 3 in the morning.
Their customer service has been awesome. When you have a question you speak with someone in the US or atleast someone who understands and speaks english very well. We had a question when super storm sandy went thru and the lady I spoke with let me know I couldn’t change the policy now but she told me how and when I could change it later. I was able to change the policy with no hassles. They keep you informed about if there will be an increase in your policy and why the increase is necessary; also give you ways to decrease by signing up with snapshot or changing deductibles.
I think overall progressive is a very good company to deal with and would definitely recommend and use them again.

Progressive is an excellent choice in car insurance. I have been a customer of theirs for several years. They have provided me with excellent customer service. I have contacted them in multiple instances as living situations have changed, cars purchased and sold, and accidents occurred and each time have experienced great satisfaction.
After several years, I saw Progressive introduced a new program, ‘Snapshot.’ I was iffy on the whole idea but after contacting them they diffused my worries and I enrolled in the program. I stayed with the program and began seeing the benefits after one month. I received a nice percentage off of my monthly bill after one month.
Following this, I continued with the program. One of the unexpected perks was the ability to view my stats online. I was able to log into my account on Progressive’s website and view my drive time, miles & hard brakes. I was also able to view my speeds in a line graph. This part worried me, but customer service let me know that they do not permit the use of this information to play a roll in my rates. After six months, I received my final discount which was substantial.
Overall the rates prior to the ‘Snapshot’ program were par for the course. I sought quotes when I purchased my new car about 9 months ago. I checked with Allstate and Esuranceand found their rates to be about the same as Progressive offered. The other perk to staying with progressive is that Allstate & Esurance required deposits. Progressive did not require any sort of deposit for my policy. So while Progressive did not necessarily have the best rates on the market, the deposit played a strong role on me as a customer staying with them. Following my participation in the program I did receive the lowest rates I had found on the market.

I have been with Progressive Automobile insurance for nearly a year, I switched to them from Geico and am happy with Progressive so far. I took advantage of their “Snapshot” program on my initial policy and it saved me quite a bit of money. However, it was unclear that I would only receive the discount on the initial policy, not on renewals. I feel this was communicated to me poorly but my rate is still quite better than with Geico.
I was with Geico for 15 years and finally grew dissatisfied with them. Progressive is easy to deal with, everything you need to know about your coverage and policy can be found online.
I am enrolled in paperless billing and auto pay which saves me some money as well. I am overall quite happy with Progressive and have no plans to switch companies in the future. Their customer service is excellent and billing is easy and convenient. Their website is a cinch to navigate. I have some occasional delays with the monthly payment being drawn from my account, but it is never more than a few days later than expected.
My coverage is comparable to my past policies and I am fortunate to not have used their claims yet. I did use roadside service a couple of months back and the tow truck showed up as scheduled. I received automated follow up calls from Progressive to verify I had received the roadside service I needed.
Progressive seems to pride itself on good customer service and besides the couple minor negative issues I have experienced I am very pleased to have them as my car insurance provider.

The first auto policy I signed up for was with Progressive, I’m not entirely sure why I chose it when I did, but I did. I have never filed a claim before in my life, I have never had an accident. I only have received one moving violation in my entire driving career, but for some reason Progressive Insurance continuously increases the cost of my policy when I renew every 6 months. They do not increase it by much, but when I called, they cited that business costs have increased.
The problem lies in that I have been with progressive for over 10 years, so they are by far the cheapest insurance that I can get, so even if I wanted to change companies, because they keep raising the price despite my clean record, I still can’t find any company that comes anywhere close to the price of insurance that I can get with Progressive.
It is down right frustrating because I feel like they know this too, and as long as they are cheaper than everyone else, they can raise the cost of mine premiums even though I have cost they exactly ZERO dollars the entire time that I have been with them, and they keep having to pay for those stupid commercials with “Flo” or whatever her name is.
I don’t know how their claims service is, because I have never filed one, and their customer service is pretty terrible because they were quite unapologetic about raising my rates without any really good reason. I like that I get a deal for paying my insurance every 6 months, but it annoys me that “cost of doing business” increases like those stupid commercials have to be subsidized on the backs of good drivers like myself.

I have always been an admirer of Progressive’s CEO Peter Lewis and his philanthropic work and donations to charity. When it came time to sit down and pick an auto-insurer for my trusty old POS, Lewis’ charity work was definitely a consideration. If I could give a star rating for leadership, I would give Progressive all five.
Unfortunately, however, Progressive as company is not as dedicated to integrity as its CEO is, in my experience. I have never had to file a claim with Progressive, but on the one occasion that I had to call with a question about my deductible, I found the costumer service to be severely lacking. Trying to navigate the labyrinth of transfers and holds was a nightmare, and it took an agonizingly long time to actually get a hold of someone who could actually help me with my question.
Apparently it wasn’t important enough to warrant this person’s full attention, however, and it took hanging up and navigating the maze again to get an answer. I will admit, however, that this is my one experience calling Progressive, and as such may not be indicative of the usual level of costumer service. I certainly hope not, but I cannot judge on anything other than my own experiences.
On the price front, I really can’t complain about anything. As I mentioned before, my car isn’t exactly “nice”, and so my cost isn’t much because there’s not much to insure. That, combined with a clean license, makes for pretty low monthly payments. I remain a Progressive costumer for now, but if I have another similar experience I the future, I may consider switching.

I have been insured through Progressive for the past 3 years. I am quite happy with their service so far. I can easily have any questions answered via the website. I can print proof of insurance and declaration pages whenever needed.
I switched to progressive because I was trying to cut every unnecessary amount of spending I could. About a year ago I again looked for a cheaper policy. When I called Progressive to cancel my policy they asked for the details as to why I was canceling. I told them my situation, that I was pinching every penny I could. The agent actually took the time to look over my policy and see if she could make any adjustments to lower my premium. She eventually lowered it to the competators rate that I was going to switch too.
I was actually a little frustrated with myself since I had spent about ½ a day getting quotes and spending so much time on this. I wish I would have called Progressive first and told them my plan. Maybe I would have saved myself a lot of time. I was also a little frustrated that they wouldn’t have just offered me the lowest rate they could from the get go. Also, when I called and told them to cancel my policy I was told that there would be a $50 cancellation fee for canceling my policy before the 6 months where up. I looked over all my documentation and online and did not see anywhere where this was mentioned. This bothered me quite a bit.
In the end I stayed with Progressive because despite everything, their service is very good and their rate was matched by the lowest quote out there that I could obtain.

I have been insured with Progressive insurance for over a year now. Over that time period, I have had few problems and have been quite pleased. I do not tend to call their offices very often, but when I do, I have received prompt and respectful service.
When I recently purchased a new vehicle, they quickly added my car to my policy, and within ten minutes I had my new auto insurance documents faxed over to the dealership, as well as emailed to me on my smart phone. I have yet to file any claims with them, but I am sure that process would run smoothly as well.
The only sticking point I seem to be having with them right now though is price. I recently decided to get a quote from another insurance company (esurance) and they were able to beat my policy price by about 40 dollars a month for the same coverage’s on both vehicles. I will be shopping around a bit more tomorrow actually to see if I can find anything cheaper than that, but just based on price alone, I might be changing. I called progressive to see if there were any discounts or special programs that I might be eligible for in order to beat that price, but they only thing they have offered me so far is the “snapshot” program, which I am a bit hesitant to try. I hate to say it, but I might be switching in the next few days.
Great customer service though….if I’m not happy with a lower priced insurance company, I would have no problems going back to them.

Consistently the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Their phone system is complicated and extremely slow, the website is generally useless, and I have had numerous employees be extremely rude to me.

I have been with progressive for about five years now. I originally chose progressive because I went online and did a bunch of quick quotes. Progressive came back as the least expensive so I went with them. They have been pretty good to work with throughout the past 5 years.
The payment process is very simple and calling customer service is pretty good. Of course I was put on hold like any company would but it didn’t seem like it took that long to have someone pick up.
I have had one claim with them for a self induced accident where I needed my bumper replaced. My body shop guy and progressive worked out all the details and I did not have to do anything. I am not sure if they negotiated the bill or if they just accepted the price tag but that was about 4 months ago and I have not seen my premium raise yet. I did call and talk to customer service about this claim and they were not really helpful explaining if my rate would go up or not. They stated that it is possible that it might and it is also possible that it will not go up. I guess I will find out in a few months when my insurance cycle is up.
Other than that I would recommend Progressive because they have always seemed to be as good if not better than all of the other larger automotive insurance companies. They are pretty competitive pricewise as well.

I am not really sure why I chose Progressive to insure my car. It may have been because I read about the CEO, Peter Lewis, donating to causes that I support or it may have been just seeing the ads on TV.
I can tell you why I have stayed with Progressive and will continue to do so. I found the Progressive website to be easy to navigate and look at. The design is clear and contained all the information that I needed to make basic decisions on my policy. When I first checked the plan options, the prices were simple to calculate and customize, which made price comparisons effortless. When I had preferred to talk to a person, their customer service representatives were very polite, helpful and didn’t make me wait a long for help.
With their help, I have lowered my already reasonable monthly premium payments by almost 30%. I’m now paying a little over half of what I was paying with my old plan and have just slightly less coverage. One of the more interesting ways they offer discounts on my plan is through a device that plugs into your car or truck. It reports statistics which measure how safely I drive. I recently drove my family to a new home on the other side of the country and Progressive representatives helped me maintain my coverage seamlessly the entire time. They were also very helpful in finding each state’s minimum insurance requirements so I would have sufficient protection no matter where an accident may happen on my trip.
Their courteous and friendly manner was highly appreciated in what was otherwise a stressful time. For their good prices and excellent customer service, I will be a Progressive customer for a long time to come.

I’m currently with Progressive, and I have been for about three years now. I originally signed up with them because they are the cheapest insurance offered where I live. Based on other inquiries I have done, they still are. On that front, I can’t fault them; they’re the best. Although I was in college at the time, I have stuck with them because I’m still not exactly flush with cash here.
However, I feel like this is where the phrase “you get what you pay for” comes from. Their customer service is pretty terrible. When I need to call them, I prepare for an ordeal that lasts a few hours. The agents are always rude. I have never had an accident or a claim, so it isn’t like I’m asking for much.
Their commercials talk so much about the hundreds of ways to save money and the different discounts, but I never seem to be eligible for any of them. I don’t know what the problem is, or if the agents just don’t want to go through the hassle of issuing these discounts. Their flat fee is still the cheapest, though. And since saving money is more important to me than customer service, I’m going to stick with them.
But if I find another insurance company with comparable rates, there is little doubt I will switch. I surmise that they have remained afloat due to their rates, but I suggest they try polishing their service a bit if they want to remain a viable company in the long-term.

I originally got Progressive after I got a DUI in 2009 when I was with State Farm. State Farm didn’t want any part of that and promptly dropped me.
I had my apprehensions about joining Progressive since I heard for the most part negative things about them, but being limited in my choices with a recent DUI, found them very reasonable in pricing compared to others that would even insure me. In addition, they were much more diverse in terms of price structure and what I did/didn’t want covered. If you are looking for great, smooth customer service, look elsewhere.
They have no agent offices so there is no personalization with your local agent that you could get with say a State Farm, and I would imagine(without having first-hand experience) that claims would be a bit of an automated hassle. That being said, I like Progressive’s approach “We’ll leave you alone if you leave us alone as long as you pay us, unless there’s a problem.” I don’t want auto insurance to be something I have to think about constantly, and with Progressive, I don’t while still having the peace of mind that I actually do have it.
My general opinion is Progressive is a great first option for those with a less than stellar driving record looking for something beyond state minimum or “let’s hope it stands up in court” coverage while still not breaking the bank, though not to give any illusions, it’s still not terribly cheap, but affordable.

I’ve had multiple policies for progressive and am most satisfied with my current policy.
I have had one moving violation three years ago and currently have two cars which both need to be insured, as well as a secondary driver. After many hours of quote shopping from different insurance companies, I finally found the best rate from progressive. Before finding progressive I used Farmers Insurance, a local company here in Hawaii. The rates that progressive offered me blew everyone else out of the competition. When I told my insurance company that I was switching to progressive they told me that they were confident that their prices could not be matched. They were wrong.
A few months ago one of my vehicles was involved in a hit and run accident while I was parked in a parking lot and as soon as I called my progressive insurance they were very sympathetic and helped me feel a little more relaxed and assure that everything would be taken care of. My car had received a large dent on the front fender of the vehicle that looked like it could be repaired for up to $6-700. This really bothered me because what was the point of using a $500.00 deductable when the insurance company is only helping me pay $200.00 worth of damages when it wasn’t my fault.
Upon evaluation of the damages the insurance company told me that due to low expenses I would not have to pay the deductable and they would pay for the damages. I have never had a claim go so well with any other insurance company I have ever worked with. I am glad to be a customer of progressive insurance.

I have been with Progressive for more than seven years. I was with Farmers Insurance for 4 years prior, and got into one car accident. This caused my insurance to go up 300%.
Progressive was much cheaper than other companies, and the quote took less than ten minutes. While in the seven years I have never been in an accident (knock on wood), I have had to make one claim. My back window was smashed by a rock when passing under a bridge that some teenagers were trying to be funny on. Unfortunately, the experience I had was not good with the claim. I ended up paying out of pocket because it seemed all I could get was excuses from each of the agents I spoke with.
One thing I liked about Farmers was having an actual agent. With Progressive, you get whoever answers the phone. Another issue I have with the company is I tried to combine my home, auto, and RV insurance and have never been able to. Each time I have tried, I have been given different reasons….none of them making much sense.
I am pleased with the price, though my two traffic tickets I recieved last year have caught up with me and showed it’s ugly head, the price is still reasonable. The agents are always friendly as well; however, I never seem to get what I am asking for.
I have considered changing to a company, such as State Farm, that offers perks for not having an accident or ticket in so long. I have been accident free for almost 8 years and Progressive does not seem to recognize it. I have no discounts for it, as well as no discounts for my husband who has never been in an accident or had a ticket.

I was not happy with the customer service and recent rate hike from Geico, who I had been insured with for many years. After many calls, inconsistent answers and frustration, I decided to give Progressive a call. Progressive’s customer service was exceptional. I called in the evening on a weekend, not a problem. Very helpful, rate quoted was better than I was paying. Also offered to honor my senior discount. I decided to switch companies right away. There was no waiting. In addition to a better rate, I enrolled in tracking.
Another advantage at Progressive. After awhile I should see another rate decrease due to less driving and soft braking. I also ended up adding another car to my policy, they were accomodating and took care of my needs right away. I was able to download a copy of my proof of insurance immediately. A customer service rep contacted me to make sure everything was in order. I would and have recommended Progressive. Overall happy with this company so far.

I have been with Progressive for 17 months and I have to say I am pretty happy with them.
I have previously been insured with and dealt with the claims departments of Liberty Mutual and Allstate. While I have had pretty good experiences with all three of these companies there is one reason I stay with Progressive, the price. I recently received a quote from Allstate trying to get me back and their quote was close to $100/month higher for the same coverage’s Progressive gives me. Now if there was a significant difference in quality of service I might have taken them up on that, however the level of service is on par with each other so why would I in my mind pay $100 more?
Progressive handled a recent claim I made very well. I was driving though a parking lot when a guy in a brand new BMW pulled out of a car wash and drove straight into me. He had progressive as well so we made the call to make the claim and within the hour I had an enterprise service representative pulling up in a rental car for me to take home. Progressive even authorized my repairs to be performed at the local body shop that I trust to do good work.
While talking on the phone with the progressive agent even informed me I would be able to make a diminished value claim if I chose to do so, I asked what I had to do and he said “nothing” just authorize him to file it, next thing I know I get a check in the mail for the diminished value to my car caused by the wreck. So my answer is yes, I will stay with progressive.

Several years back, fresh out of college, I bought my first motorcycle and needed to insure it. I was with State Farm at the time, but I was not happy with the rates that I was quoted by them, so I looked around.
Because of all the TV commercials at the time, I checked out online quotes from Geico and Progressive. The two quotes couldn’t have been different. Progressive was about 30% cheaper than the quote I had gotten from my State Farm rep. Geico on the other hand, not only didn’t save me money, but actually quoted me more than the State Farm agent.
Obviously, I went with Progressive. I also moved my car insurance over so that everything would be with the same company. Their website was so easy to use, it made it a pleasure to compare rates, and then to continue to go on and access anything I needed (I changed coverage amounts several times, as I paid off the lien, etc.). The few times I had to communicate with a real person, they were extremely helpful and quick to handle my problem.
While I never had to make a claim, so I can’t speak for that part of their service, I was extremely pleased with the help and service that I got from Progressive. They are always the first company that I go to now to quote out any insurance needs, and I expect that will not change over the years.
Even if you don’t like Flo, I definitely recommend checking Progressive out for any insurance needs.

When I first got my car I drove around without insurance for a little while — I know, this is probably the dumbest thing I have ever done — until one day it dawned on me that this is absolutely foolish behavior. So, I decided that would be the day I manned up and paid for insurance.
This is when I started to look at the many options available to me in earnest, I spent a good long time looking at my different options and getting quotes from a myriad of different companies. I read reviews from others and the information available on each of the big companies — both positive and negative (it’s pretty much impossible for a big insurance company to please everybody) — and finally came to what seemed to be a logical conclusion: Progressive. It wasn’t in the end, the commercials that got me, but the great price and quick service. I spent a long time looking at quotes, and no one was able to compete with their great prices and generally positive reviews.
Fortunately, I have not had to call to claim on my insurance yet, but if I do, I anticipate pleasant results in the future. One of the greatest features of my current deal with them is that every six months when I make my payment, they will then lower the overall cost of my plan. I have already shaved over $50 over my initial plan cost in the two years I have had them!
I cannot recommend Progressive with enough positive things to say about them. I received my insurance cards in the mail after ordering insurance through them within the week, I think it was less than 3 days. I would recommend that if you are looking for affordable insurance, and want those savings to get better the longer you keep your insurance, that you choose to go with Progressive, you won’t be disappointed.

Progressive Auto Insurance is everything I need in a car insurance company. You see television commercials for such companies all the time, promising to lower your rate or provide superior service. But I’m someone who doesn’t drive a whole lot, has a very safe driving record, and just wanted a simple, cheap car insurance that would reward me for my driving habits. In that regard, Progressive delivers.
They provided the cheapest baseline rate when I searched among many different companies (around $30 per month), and even better, they offer a discount program that has you hook a little data tracking device into your in exchange for potential discounts off your car insurance. On my last six month payment, I saved over $50 using this program. That’s the kind of insurance I like.
I’ve never had to make a claim with them, and I hope I never have to. But if I do, I expect the process to be as clean and hassle free as the rest of my dealings with them have been.
Progressive also has things set up so that you can do almost all of your dealings with them online. I appreciate that, as I’ve never been one to want to talk on the telephone for every little thing. You can even do things like print out temporary insurance cards online, before receiving them in the mail. They make it really easy to keep track of when your insurance is due, and also offer automatic payments, and the like.
Basically, they make it really easy for you to forget you even have to worry about car insurance, which is great. Highly recommended because they’re simple and cheap.

Progressive auto insurance has been a good fit for me.
I particularly like the fact that they are reasonably priced, and I can do all my business online with a click of a mouse. This is very important to me as I do not like talking to sales people. I know what I want and just want to know what it’s going to cost me, I don’t need to have a salesman trying to up sell me. All the documents that I need are right on the web site and I can print them off immediately, they also send the documents through the mail. The web site is extremely user friendly, so it is easy to navigate and easy to add vehicles, drivers, increase or decrease coverage.
If you need to talk to a representative, they supply an 800 number at the top of the page so you don’t have to hunt for it. While I have never had to use it the claims area is easy to find and looks easy to navigate.
Progressive has helpful tips on every page, letting you know how you can lower your rates. Everything is quick and clean on the website. They even have an your policy activity itemized by date so you can see claims, payments, changes at a quick glance and know exactly when they happened. Progressive is very good about sending out timely e-mail reminders when payments are coming out of your checking account (if you choose automatic withdrawal) , concerned about being eco-friendly? They also offer paperless billing. If you’re interested in insurance that is reasonable priced and easy to access then
Progressive is the route to go.

I got into an accident with another individual in the parking lot of my office building last year. To date, I have not received my claim check. I called my rep multiple times and sent multiple emails. She claimed she had sent me the check and she had not. She was also very rude and short with me. It was a very disappointing experience. The only time i needed them to do what I am paying for 🙂 As soon as is possible, I will be switching my insurance provider.

I’ve been a customer of Progressive since 2004, and after being a customer for barely a week my wife was hit by a driver running a stop sign; in fact, the first conversation I had with anyone at Progressive was when I called to file a claim. While my wife was still in the emergency room they authorized a rental car and told me that a dedicated claims handler would be contacting me shortly, and sure enough within an hour I was called by the claims handler who handled my claim from that moment until the case was closed almost two years later.
Everything they had to pay for the claim was done quickly and with no undue burdens placed on us. When it was determined that my wife needed cognitive therapy to help her with some memory issues they not only paid for the therapy but also paid her for the time she missed from work, since by the end of the session she was so physically and mentally exhausted she couldn’t go back to work.
Dealing with Progressive on policy issues is a breeze. I’ve been able to add vehicles, add my son, print copies of bills and ID cards with no hassle at all. When I recently bought a new car I was able, through the Progressive website, to add the vehicle and have the proof of insurance (both the binder and ID cards) faxed directly to the dealer. The only thing I’m not able to do through their website is remove a vehicle, since state law in New York requires that insurers receive proof that the registration was turned in before it can be removed.
The few times I’ve had to call them with a question I’ve always had it answered quickly and cheerfully, even when I called one night at close to midnight.
I’ve carried a policy with Progressive since 2004 and I’ve never considered shopping for insurance elsewhere, since the service I’ve received with them is so outstanding. I’ve never even considered shopping for other insurance, since my first experience with them was so incredibly positive. Between the ease of use of their website, the quick handling of claims and the promptness of speaking to a live person, I wouldn’t consider switching, even though bringing my car insurance to the company that writes my homeowner’s insurance could get me a discount. To me it’s not worth it to sacrifice the service.

My car insurance company is Progressive. I have been with them for over eight years. In all that time I have only had to have contact with them on the phone twice.
Once was to change an address that for some reason would not change after repeated attempts on the web site. This was about six years ago and Once I was able to get someone on the phone they handled it in a quick and professional way. I was impressed with how polite and efficient the person who handled my call was.
The second time I had to call them was when I had a claim because of a deer. I hit a deer on the way home one night and did some damage to the front of my SUV, also to the right front quarter panel. They listen to my story asked a few questions and told me to go to an approved body shop or get 2 estimates from non approved vendors. The body shop that I had planned to use was one of the ones on the approved list and I took it there and they fixed it and I guess the bill was paid with no problem because I never heard anything else about it.
The few other times I have had a question I was able to answer it on their website. The website seems to be much more user friendly since I had a problem with it many years ago.
Overall I would rate them 4.5 stars I would give Progressive 5 stars for service, 4 stars for price ( mostly because the are inline with others, lower than some, but I think car insurance is a little high anyway.) and a 5 on claims because I could not ask for any better with the one that I had. I also give them a 4 on service just because outside of collecting my direct payment they don’t have to do much for me most years.
However I think they are there if I need them. I have been satisfied enough over the eight years that I have not looked for another provider and I guess that means they have been doing a pretty good job for me.

I am very pleased with my car insurance company.
I have a good driving record and was overcharged by other companies because I was young and had a brand new car. After many of years of paying high price premiums do in part to my age and early driving record I found progressive. They looked at the plan that I currently had and stated that I was overpaying by $200 a month. Most people dont even pay $200 a month for insurance to to find this out I was upset.”
Thanks to the agents at my company they found every discount available to me. I am always saving money and enjoy seeing my bill drop every 6 months to a year. They don’t just quote you a price to get you in the door then make up on the back end with hidden fees. Just last month I was able to save $60 a year by just going paperless.
This is the type of company I want to be with. I have been a loyal customer for the past three years. Even if I found a lower premium I would not switch companies because I know how much Progrssive has helped me.I would give then a price and see if they could match it before I ever thought of getting insurance with another company.
They offer all kinds of insurance and are my first choice for rental/home insurance. I recommend then to friends, family and clients. They work with their customers, I just love them. They best part about them is they give you a quote of other companies and if another company could cover you for less they will match it up front.
Good job Progressive!-Customer for life.

I have been using Progressive Insurance for about two years now and I have been in one accident. I was hit while leaving a department store parking lot 3 months ago causing a lot of damage to the front right quarter of my vehicle.
I called my Progressive Agent immediately after the accident as my vehicle was not drivable and was able to get a hold of her very quickly. She walked me through every step of my claims progress and scheduled an inspection of the car within 2 days.
My premium did go up about 20 dollars after the accident but it was worth it for the amount of damage that was done to my vehicle. I was paying for comprehensive coverage as I had a loan on the car and all $2700 dollars of damages were fixed within two weeks. I have always had a good experience when contacting their customer service as well, I checked my claim several times after my local agent’s business hours and they were always very courteous and prompt to get back to me if they did not have the answer right then. I also checked my claims on their website and was could check damage estimates as well.
I once called them as I had lost my Insurance ID card that I carry and they directed me step by step through the “My Account” portion of their website so I was able to very quickly print off a set of new ID cards. As far as their premiums are concerned, my local agent has been very thorough in explaining exactly what I am covered for and what I am not.
They are cheaper than most of the other Insurance Companies that I have received a quote from but not all. I wish my rates would go down but for the service they give, I can’t complain. Overall I would say that I have had a pleasant experience with Progressive and will continue to do business with them for a long time!

You all see the Progressive commercials on TV with Flo the insurance saleslady. I swear that she lives at the progressive claims service department and that she is a real claims person. Almost every experience i have had with progressive has been very positive and every staff member i have dealt with have been amazingly helpful. All except for one.
I dealt with one progressive salesman that could not have cared less about selling me insurance. I originally came to him to inquire about 1 million dollar liability for my plowing insurance. I was tired of paying the amount of money i was with my last insurance company. He was awful, and less than helpful. He was borderline rude even, i almost got up out of my chair and left his office, and at first i was really taken aback by his overall demeanor. A friend had recommended me to him and i had no idea why. I mean at some point i should have just slapped him in the face and said “what the hell man” but it turned out that he had an amazing quote and so i chose to bind up the insurance then and there. I still might not recommend him to any of my friends unless they are very desperate to save a lot of money.
However i can honestly say that 100% of my further communications with progressive have been incredible. I cannot believe the claim service i got when i was in a motorcycle accident about 2 months ago. I insured a very basic policy with them and so therefore they were not making a huge gob of money off of me. Normally this would mean that there interest in helping me is little to none.
But progressive really did everything they could to help me through the very difficult time. I had insured my motorcycle with liability and collision as it was a new bike. They came out within 24 hours from my local branch and had put in a claim and i received my check for the repairs within 1 week. It was absolutely incredible, i had heard about the amazing customer service of progressive but i really could not believe how fast and courteous the entire staff i dealt with was. I wish i could recommend progressive to everyone due to the amazing services they provided me with.
The only thing that i wish i could change is that they do tend to be a little pricier when compared with some other leading insurance agencies such as GEICO, But when compared with the other companies customer service i would gladly pay the extra to stay with progressive.

Overall I think Progressive Auto Insurance is good and I would recommend their services.
Their snapshot discount program is really unreliable though. I received an initial discount of thirty dollars a month upon installing the snapshot device into my vehicle, which was great. However, I drove around with this “spy” in my car and even got another $10 discount for having no incidents. Six months later, Progressive called and told me that the snapshot device was not working in my car so the initial discount I got when I enrolled in the snapshot program was going to go back on my bill.
My dad has the snapshot device in his car as well and it penalizes for some things that are unavoidable. You “lose points” for driving after 10 pm, hard brakes, hard accelerations, going above 70 mph, etc. This seems impractical to me because in some areas around where I live the speed limit is 70 mph. Also, what is considered a “hard” brake or acceleration is arbitrary.
I have not had any accidents or tickets since switching to Progressive. They are also cheaper than the other providers I’ve had before, such as Geico. They have good discount opportunities for a variety of things. However, since I’ve had Progressive, the amount of my monthly payment has fluctuated several times over about a year without cause. This can be slightly annoying because insurance is a bill that I typically consider to be reliable and consistent.
I plan on sticking with Progressive for as long as possible because of the good pricing and discount opportunities, but sometimes the billing can be a little complicated. On the other hand, every time I have called with a question about my bill, the customer service representatives have been exceptionally helpful and understanding.
I have a younger brother who is about to be added to our insurance plan when he turns 16 and starts driving. Although new drivers do pay more in insurance, the rate to add him to our Progressive insurance plan was significantly cheaper than State Farm, Geico, or other insurance companies that we looked in to.
Although I have some very small annoyances with Progressive, such as the snapshot program, I have found them to be far above other insurance agencies that I have had several large problems with in the past. This is another reason I will keep my Progressive insurance plan for as long as possible.

I’ve been with Progressive insurance for 6 years. My mother is the policy holder and we are the only two drivers under the policy.
I have a 2001 Honda Civic Ex and my mother drives a 2008 Honda Civic LX. We pay $2700 a year for these two cars which I think is way too much. We have tried looking for better deals in the past but my driving history and age prevented us from finding a better deal. I have one speed ticket and one minor accident on my record. I’m now 28 years old and should not be paying this much.
However, the customer service has been very good. A few years ago, I was in a fender bender with an old woman. The accident was my fault. Early in the morning, I was on my way to a doctor’s appointment and really tired. It was stop and go traffic and I wasn’t paying attention. I slammed right to back of some older woman’s old Buick. The damage to my card was minor. I don’t believe there was any damage to her car. I took my insurance form out of the glove box and got out of the car. The woman got out, said she was late for a doctor’s appointment as well, grabbed my insurance info and drove off.
Next day, I got a phone call from Progressive about the accident. The woman filed a claim. The representative was very helpful and thorough. The guy said that woman claimed her or the passenger was serious injured in the accident. At time, I should have been incredibly angry. It was a minor fender-bender. There was no way anyone was seriously injured in that accident.
Luckily, everything turned out okay. The next day, I drove my card to the local Progressive office. The Progressive representative asked me a few questions about the accident and took pictures of my car which had no visible damage. Progressive handled the claim smoothly. He said he was skeptical of the woman’s claim of serious injury and they would further investigate.
I didn’t hear the result of the investigation. I’m guessing the woman dropped her claim or the insurance companies didn’t believe her. I don’t really recall any increase in my rates so I didn’t look any further into the issue.
Even though I’m satisfied with their service, I’ll definitely be looking for better rates in the future. My current rate is too high for two economy cars. Overall, I would I would highly recommend Progressive but first shop around with other insurers to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible.

I have been with Progressive Auto Insurance for almost two years.
Signing up online was relatively easy. Progressive’s website is nicely laid out and very easy to use. The whole process took maybe 15 or 20 minutes. One thing i found interesting was when i entered my car VIN number, the system automatically populated my car and the owner information. This was kind of suprising as i formerly used a different insurance company.I guess we are all in the system already.
After entering all of the requested information a quote appears. As far as payments,Progressive offers three different types of payment. The first type of payment allows you to pay for six months of coverage up front. It is the cheapest option. The second type is a monthly direct draw from your checking account and it is slightly cheaper than the third option which is paying online, by check, or with the use of a debit/credit card.
After making your payment and signing up, You can print out a temporary insurance card. This is handy to have in your car with you as the permanent insurance card takes a week or so to arrive thru the mail. If for some reason which i did, you lose or misplace your insurance card at any time, You can log in to the website and print another temporary card and request a new permanent card by mail. My insurance card is good for six months each time i get one. Progressive automatically sends it to my house a couple of weeks before my renewal date. I like this feature as its possible i would forget to request this.
I have had no contact with Progressive’s customer service as i exclusively use the website. I find using the website rather than actually speaking to a customer service rep a lot quicker and more convenient for me. I have not had to file any claims (knock on wood) or needed any assistance other than printing a replacement insurance card.
As far as price this is really my only complaint with Progressive. I noticed on a commercial they had a loyal customer discount. I haven’t noticed this as my bill has pretty much stayed the same. I am at a much more calmer and responsible age and have a perfect driving record. I just have basic liability insurance as my car is twelve years old. I feel the price and lack of discounts are making me want to shop around a little more before my renewal date. I guess if you want a stable company with an easy to use website and do not mind paying more, I would recommend Progressive.

I have had Progressive Auto Insurance for over a year now, and I am generally satisfied because they are less expensive than my previous company, and they have a lightening fast customer response.
When I chose Progressive Insurance, I was reluctant because they had so many commercials, and I automatically thought that they would be very expensive as a result of the advertising campaign. To my surprise, I save over $600 a year with Progressive.
Progressive also accepts monthly installment payments. Although they charge a monthly fee for that convenience, I think it is a valuable courtesy that they offer over the competition. Many customer needs can be satisfied by using their functional, easy-to-use website. I was especially pleased with this when I lost my insurance card, it only took a few clicks on the Progressive website to replace the card.
There have only been a few occasions when I had to call customer service, and that is because at the time when I signed up, my rate changed constantly, due to a discrepancy with their software. When I called and spoke with a representative, the individual assisted me right then and assured me that my billing issue was solved. In fact, every time I called the 800 number, my needs were met promptly, and the representative offered to check and see if I was utilizing every discount that was available. That aspect of Progressive’s service was an added benefit to me because I felt as if the representatives had my best financial interest in mind when serving me.
The only negative aspect to Progressive Auto Insurance is the Snapshot discount. First of all, I think that the device will cause a disturbing trend of tracking customers across the industry. I am a safe driver with a clean driving history, so I was disturbed when I inquired into the device recordings and found that they were tracking the number of times when I made a hard stop or if I went slightly over the speed limit. I am inclined to believe that they use that information to deny claims; however, I have not had a single claim with the company, so I can not substantiate that belief.
I sent back the Snapshot devices because they caused my rate to raise slightly at renewal, even though I have had no accidents of claims with them since I signed up for coverage. All-in-all, Progressive is a decent insurance company; however, I would encourage customers to be proactive about their billing statements and call customer care every once in a while to see if they can aquire additional savings.

The service we’ve received from Progressive has been remarkable. We were in an accident, not my fault, and needed a rental quickly. Progressive had one delivered to the house by the time the cab driver dropped us off after the initial crash.
I cannot complain about the rates either. They have taken their time to discuss all our options and set us up with the best price for what we were looking for, over 20% less than what we were paying. I’d recommend their service to anyone.

I signed up with Progressive online. I had gotten quotes from several different companies, and Progressive’s was by far the lowest. I received an additional discount by paying the full premium. The coverage was at least as good, and better in some areas, as my previous policy (with the same deductibles). I was able to add roadside assistance for a very small amount. After finishing the online application process I had a couple of questions, so I called and spoke to an agent. The agent was very friendly and helpful, and helped me refine some coverage. I increased some coverage (with no hard sell from the agent) but also removed some I didn’t need, which the agent helped me determine. I haven’t had any experience with claims, but my experience with purchasing the coverage and with the premium cost was very good.

I’ve been really happy with Progressive.
I had been with Geico previously and switched in December of 2010 when I bought another vehicle, so I’ve been with them for about two and a half years. The price for me and my wife for both vehicles was a lot better with Progressive than it had been with Geico, that was all the reason I needed to switch.
Typically, I don’t really interact with my insurance company much since I’d basically had no incidents in the past, other than a single fender bender when I was 19. But in the last two years, I’ve had two accidents I’ve had to deal with, so I’ve actually had to deal with customer service, claims, etc. quite a bit and it’s been really easy and made the situations a lot less stressful to handle.
The first incident was a tiny collision in a grocery store parking lot, me and another guy backed into each other when we were pulling out of our opposing parking stalls. Long story short, my truck was fine but his rear corner took what ended up being about $500 in damage. I was REALLY worried that this was going to screw me up as my income is pretty tight and the last thing I needed was a bigger monthly bill. But, Progressive was great. They called it a 50/50 accident, paid the guy off, and it was done. I didn’t have to pay a cent and they excused it under their “small accident forgiveness” policy and it didn’t affect my premium at all, not even at renewal time. That was awesome.
Then about 8 months ago, I was in a more serious freeway rear-collision accident and I was at-fault. It didn’t seem too severe at the scene, but the other person’s car ended up being totaled, I think it ran almost $5k, plus about $800 in medical payments, whatever they were.
So, yes my premiums went up, I fully expected them too and I wouldn’t knock them for it. But they didn’t go up as bad as I expected at all, it could have been a lot worse. I still am paying much less than anywhere else I’ve looked, and usually by a lot. Especially now that my record looks bad in the recent past. In six months when I hit the 3-year mark with them, they even bump my customer status level from Gold (one year) to Platinum which gives me another automatic discount, can’t wait!
Seriously though, for anyone skeptical about online insurance companies, Progressive is really good and I would recommend them highly.

On a Sunday in July of 2005 my car was broken into.
The thieves loaded the truck onto a flatbed and drove it 30 miles south of my apartment. They put on gloves, ripped out the engine, took off the tires, tore out the seats. They basically left the car a shell. They even stole my CD collection with over 50 CD’s.
I have Progressive Insurance – they were the recipients of my first call about the theft. They instructed me to call the police. They have a service where an adjuster rides around in an SUV and handles claims. They even give this person checks that they can cut for you on the spot. This particular representative was named Earl, he made it to my apartment before the Seattle Police Department. Earl wasn’t able to cut me a check for the value of my car on the spot because they police wanted time to find the car.
Turns out the thieves had put on doughnut tires onto my shell of a car and rolled it down a hill. The police called with this news just a day later. I went down to identify the car to a salvage yard, it was indeed my car, the theives had even left the surgical gloves in the engine compartment. It was a total loss.
Earl met me there and we both just shook our heads at how meticulous the car had been torn apart. The car had been broken into 4 other times but never stolen and stripped. Earl was able to get me a check for the full retail value of my car. He was professional, courteous and answered all of my questions. I was impressed that he returned my calls promptly and never seemed to rush even though after much conversation I discovered that he had many other cases that he was working on.

I have been a customer with Progressive for several years now, and I have nothing but good things to say about them.
I first got insurance from Progressive because my husband at the time had used them for several years and Progressive offered great discounts for having multiple vehicles, good driving records, etc. Although these are basic things for an insurance company to offer, Progressive goes above and beyond.
One of the most important things that make Progressive stand out as an insurance carrier is the customer service. The customer service is amazing. Every call I have made to them, whether it is in regard to an accident, a policy change, or even just a basic question has been answered promptly, and with extreme politeness.
For example, I was in an accident where I hit an animal. Unfortunately the damage to my vehicle required me to file an insurance claim. When I called Progressive the customer service rep was incredibly friendly. Although she was unable to help me directly with my claim, she did give me my claim number, and let me know that my claim rep would call me within 24 hours. Sure enough within 24 hours my claim rep called me and got me set up to get my car fixed. I then took my car to my dealership where the amazing Progressive customer service continued!!! While the dealership was looking at my car they unfortunately found more damage than Progressive had originally been billed for. The Progressive rep was there within a couple of hours with a new check for the dealership, no questions asked!!
Prior to this experience I was thinking of changing my insurance provider, but I have since realized that I will not find the amount of customer service I have had with Progressive.
Along with great service, Progressive also has very unique ways to get discounts on my insurance policy. I am currently enrolled in the Snapshot program, which has saved me approximately 10-15 percent off the cost of my car insurance policy over the past few months. The Snapshot device basically plugs into my car and monitors my driving habits, how hard I brake, speed, time of day I drive, etc. Not only does this save me money by having it plugged into my car, but it also makes me more conscientious of my driving as a whole. I would recommend Progressive to any customer who is looking into changing their insurance. They have great discounts, customer service, and special programs.

I have been with progressive for 10 years now. I have never had a single issue with them until the past couple of years.
When I first got insurance with them they were so prompt to send my renewed cards, answer questions and quick to handle claims. Within the last few years I have noticed that the customer service is not up to par. 4 times in the last few years I have had to call to get my new cards mailed to me. Seems like this should be automatic when you renew your policy.
Whenever I call to talk to someone, it takes at least 15 minutes of being on hold to get a person. Sometimes I even get disconnected and have to start all over. I haven’t had any tickets or accidents in years and my policy price is still the same which strikes me as odd. I had been quite happy with them for a long time which is precisely why I haven’t gone to a new company. I did finally get a discount for no accidents, but it only applied to 6 months worth of my insurance.
I am now trying to decide what to do. I have been hanging on to the hopes of them going back to the way it used to be. Friendly customer service reps and prompt service is what I’m looking for. If they don’t go back to the way they used to be, I am not going to have a choice but start looking for a new company. I have been a loyal, policy paying customer and it seems as though they couldn’t care less about me.
There is none of that feeling of being part of a family like there used to be. I can say that their rates have always been the lowest. Every year I do an insurance estimate check and they are always the cheapest for me, but that may not be enough anymore. I want a company who cares about me and how they can assist me. I don’t want a company that makes me work for THEIR products! I just renewed my policy in June so I have 6 months to decide. If they can’t get better on their end then I will be going to a new, friendlier company. I may lose the best deal there is, but I will gain a reassurance from another company that Progressive hasn’t be able to provide.
