Great customer service and great claims service. Slid on the ice this winter into a post and they had me in a rental car that day. My car was towed to one of their preferred shop and repairs were started immediately.
Honestly, I was nervous as this was my first claim but everything went very smoothly. Nothing like all of the stories I hear about having to file an insurance claim.

Rates keep going up, but I have never filed a claim. They keep telling me that its because claim costs are going up and people are driving more. Why should I have to pay for other peoples stupid driving, when I haven’t cost the company anything?

My agent signed me up with SAFECO when I bought insurance through them, but I haven’t talked to them since. Every time I call i end up talking t someone from SAFECO. It hasnt been all bad though, they are open 24 hours, unlike my agent so I can get things done on the weekends and at night. The price is less than i was paying at my last insurance company and they paid the one claim I had fairly fast.

SAFECO insurance is okay. Its not the best insurance company I have been with, but also not the worst. Their price is a bit high for my liking, but they have great customer service. I like that I can contact them anytime I need something done with my policy and don’t have to try and get a hold of them while I am at work.

We have been with SafeCo insurance for about 7 years. I like my insurance company and have been very satisfied. Even though I haven’t had a lot of contact over the past seven years, the contact I have had with them has always been quick, easy and very helpful. About once a year I call to find out if I can lower my payments, if any new discounts are available and if coverage has changed, and they are always willing to be very helpful and make it easy to understand. We gotten our monthly payments lowered each time but just calling a talking to the insurance agent. The insurance company always offers great discounts for good driving, paying the bill on time and have additional services like homeowners insurance through the same company. A few years ago my husband was in a car accident at no fault of his own and dealing with them was easy. The help and responses we got from them was quick. Our insurance company even dealt with the other persons that was involved in the accident for insurance company for us and got him a check to repair the vehicle in no time at all. No complications or jumping through hoops with this insurance company. All in all I am not only happy with amount I pay each month and the coverage we get but I am also happy with the customer service we receive in the times we need them. This maybe not one of the major insurance companies but it is a great one.

I was with another car insurance company, but had to make a change. My premium went up over $40 a month in a 2 year period. I did not have any accidents or tickets either. So, I started doing some research. I found several auto insurance companies that seemed good. However Safeco seemed like a great company from their reviews. I then found out that several people I knew were insured thru them. They had nothing but good things to say. They were paid very promptly for personal property thefts that they had and their premiums did not keep going up by substantial amounts. Their customer service agents were extremely helpful and nice as well. I decided to give them a try. I am so glad that I did. I was able to sign up with an agent over the phone immediately. I was given a price over $50 less per month than what I was paying. I was sent I.D. cards thru email immediately. Keep in mind, that this was at 10 p.m. too. I then received the cards and my policy in the mail within a week. I have not had to file a claim with them, but I am sure that their service will be just as prompt and efficient as everything else has been. I can see me being a long time customer of Safeco

This “company” is one of the most illegitimate, untrustworthy, and lying businesses that I have ever had the disservice of dealing with in my life. From the beginning, I asked them whether there would be any unforetold or unexpected policy rate increases and they blatantly lied and told me, no, saying how they would not raise my policy rate at all and that I would be paying the same amount each month. Only 2 months later and the rate increases, which I had no say over or was even notified by started. The 1st time they did this my bill went from $70 to $100, then the 2nd time from $103 to $142 and then a 3rd time from $140 to $167. Bear in mind I did not get into any car accidents while I had the auto insurance, no violations, NOTHING. I have a clean record with no tickets, accidents, or violations on my driving record and when I tried asking for an explanation from these people they first told me that it was due to me changing addresses, which I did not do, and then, later on said that they are charging different areas that people live in differently, SO WHICH ONE IS IT? HERE IS MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT THIS COMPANY. WHEN I DECIDED I HAD ENOUGH OF THEIR FRAUDULENT SCAMMING AND CALLED TO CANCEL MY SERVICE, THEY SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME FOR THE DURATION OF THE MONTH THAT I HAD USED THE SERVICE AND NOT THE FULL AMOUNT. NOW THEY HAVE SENT OUT A DEBT COLLECTION TOWARDS ME FOR THE FULL AMOUNT, RUINED MY CREDIT, EVEN WHEN I AGREED TO PAY THEM THE FULL AMOUNT ANYWAY, ON TIME. This company is so disgusting in every aspect of their business that I have decided to take matters into my own hands and will be suing them soon on account of my lawyer. I would not recommend this disgrace of an auto insurance to even my worst enemy.

I was hit from behind by a driver with Safeco liability. They will not return by phone calls. I have about $8000 plus damages done to my new Acura, and I had a visit to the ER. It’s been almost a month and they have done nothing.I do not have a rental car, I am missing work. I think my insurance company will have to go after them, but since it’s not that much money for the insurance companies to fight over they seem reluctant, and would rather I just pay my own deductible and move on. What a scam. It’s a law people have to have at least liability insurance, yet the liability insurance can be crap like Safeco and just refuse to deal with me or my State Farm agent…so the insurance companies win twice. This is b.s. I’m not done with them yet! They have horrible insurance!!!

Am relatively new to Safeco auto ins. Had vehicle suddenly stop in front of me on wet pavement. I was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the other car. No damage to other car but the front of mine had hit the trailer hitch on the other car and received quite a bit of damage. From the time I contacted Safeco about the accident through the car rental and auto body repair, it was an impressive, positive experience.

Safeco is by far the best insurance company that I’ve ever dealt with. As with any insurance company, having a good agent is important. Our agent has always been there for us, and when I had an accident, Safeco was flawless. The adjuster made me feel like everything was alright from the first time that I talked to him. After the accident was settled, I called my agent and asked him how much my rates would go up, and he let me know about the Rewind program that will keep my rates from going up because of the accident. After 4 months of having the device in my car, it was over and the points from my accident never impacted my rates. And the rewind program was great too! There was a website where I could go on and track my driving habits. I had no clue how often I hit the brakes hard when I drove. Because of that program, I am actually a safer driver, and my rates didn’t go up! Needless to say, I am a very satisfied customer! Thank you Safeco!

Terrible, horrible experience dealing with SAFECO Auto claims. We have had SAFECO Iinsurance for over 20 years. Another driver turned in front of my wife, causing the accident. The other driver was insured with another company but we have had nothing but problems dealing with our company, SAFECO. The car was never fixed properly. It is still having problems and SAFECO won’t stand behind their president’s guarantee. The district adjuster, is telling us we have to prove the damage was done in the accident. It didn’t have these problems before the accident but that doesn’t matter. I have to prove that something wasn’t broken before!!!! We even had an independent inspector look over the car. He has written a letter to SAFECO that the car is unsafe. The district adjuster, doesn’t care. Unless we can prove it, we are on our own.
Parts have started falling off but they won’t even return my calls. We have had our attorney contact them, again with no response. The car shakes and rattles now; the engine sounds terrible (like a diesel – which it isn’t), and the front end squeals every time we turn a corner. SAFECO valued the car at $15,000 before the accident, but we can’t get more than $5,000 in the current condition. They turned a luxury car into a jalopy!
Stay away from SAFECO! They can’t be trusted – even when it isn’t their money. They will get it back from the other insurance but they are still failing to live up to the terms of my policy. They avoid paying claims and won’t respond when you have problems.

I do not recommend Safeco Insurance. This insurance company is a rip off. I did not choose Safeco to be my car insurance provider, but ended up with them when they bought out Peerless Insurance. They immediately increased my premium $72.00 more a year. I had an excellent driving record, with no accidents, until my car hit a patch of ice during a snow storm and I was unable to stop this Winter. I was going 7 mph, so it was a minor accident, and my car incurred the damage (to front grill and bumper). No one was hurt. I appealed the surcharge and won. The insurance commission agreed that the accident was not my fault and was due to weather conditions. Although the surcharge was removed, Safeco raised my insurance $31.00 more a month, or $372.00 more a year. A bit pricey for a 9 year old car. No notification or explanation prior to this increase. This is outrageous! I intend to file a complaint with the Massachusetts Insurance Commission. They are gouging people! You would be smart to avoid Safeco. They don’t care about their customers, they only care about screwing them over with high insurance rates.

This company is horrible! Our agent is very nice ( however they are thrid party) but the company itself is a JOKE. They do not believ in great customer service and are willing to drop you at any moment. When it comes to paying additional for full coverage thay take you money open handedly but do not want to cover you. You will be given the run around when it comes to repairs, rentals ( 1 day ) because they fill that your vehicle should all be repaired in one day, and their favorite line to use is “That is not Safeco.’s issue”. Please, Please do not bother with this company ! I suggest to pay a little extra and go with a major company so you can by-pass the petty run around that they give you.

I was recently involved in an auto accident in which I was rear-ended causing me to crash into into a wall. From the very beginning Safeco was difficult to get a hold of (15-20 minute waits just to report an accident). Then came the issues with rental, repairs and medical. I don’t know if Safeco adjusters are incompetent or just indifferent, maybe both, but I’ve had a very frustrating experience just to get them to call you back or to reply to an email. The only thing they got going for them is their price which actually isn’t that much cheaper either. STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED.

I have been with SAFECO since I was 17 years old and had received my first car. That makes a total of 15 years for me. Throughout those years, I have been in many fender benders, totaled cars and made several claims. Through every claim and situation, I have been extremely impressed with this agency.
They have always had very low rates for my monthly payments. They are not like other big name companies, where the monthly rates go up with every accident you get in. No matter what, the rates always stay relatively low, and that is a great feeling. I’ve been through 5 cars with this agency, and have had full coverage insurance since the beginning. Unfortunately, I’ve had everything happen to my cars that you would be afraid of. I had cars totaled out completely, been hit by a drunk driver in a pick-up truck, had my car catch on fire on the highway, and have had my fair share of fender-benders in every car I’ve owned.
My insurance has also covered running out of gas and towing from anywhere! They make sure that you’re covered in every situation possible. My deductible was only $500, which was not a lot for me. I had the absolute best experience with this company, and they have always been trustworthy. They’re an A+ in my book for reliability, trustworthiness and prompt services. Not to mention, their customer service has always been professional and helpful as well.

I recently switched to Safeco Insurance for our two auto policies from using State Farm for many years. State Farm had been overcharging us for our auto policies for many years now, and I was tired of getting little value in the way of coverage and customer service for all of the money that I was putting out. I called a local broker and requested him to run some quotes for me. Safeco came in as the most reasonably priced for the best coverage. The broker communicated with me very well at every step and answered every question that I and my husband had. When I accepted his quote and it came time to actually sign papers, the broker gladly came to my place of employment to make it most convenient for me. He explained everything clearly, thoroughly, and in detail. He was extremely personable and I felt absolutely no pressure from him at any point in the process.
He offered to handle the cancellation of my existing insurance policy so that I didn’t have to expend any further effort. I did have an issue with my current prior insurance agent calling and emailing me ad nauseum when he found out I was canceling my policy with him to the point where it almost felt like harassment, but he finally gave up. Shortly after beginning my policy, I changed checking accounts and had to change my auto-payment method. I was able to very easily get signed up and logged in to Safeco’s website to be able to alter my information.
I am overall very happy with my switch.

I’m not a happy customer since joining SafeCo. I purchased an auto policy through them about 2 months ago and within the first 2 weeks I had already gotten in an accident. My rate more than doubled in the first month than what I was originally quoted.
This is absurd because this is my first accident that I was at fault in in more than 10 years. The rep that I initially talked to had went from warm and friendly to cold and short to me when I asked about why my rate had jumped up so much. I had difficulty even filing the claim from the get go with SafeCo as I kept getting the run around on where I could take my car to get fixed. I was very patient with them and went out of my way to make the best of the situation. But in the end they did a terrible job from the start and now I’m shopping around for other insurance because their rate increase is absolutely ridiculous.
On top of that, their customer service hasn’t been good or even decent since I’ve had to file a claim. Sure they were helpful and friendly when they wanted me to sign up and pay them but overall I think they need a complete overhaul to their customer service department as its lacking even basic and common courtesy in dealing with customers. I would be very wary of recommending them to anyone and I have voiced my opinions to all my friends if the subject of car insurance comes up.|

If I could give safeco zero stars, I would. One of their insured drivers turned left in front of me at the last second. Needless to say, could not stop and hit him. The impact pushed his truck into another vehicle. The insured driver, the 3rd party driver, and police office blame the safeco insured driver. As a matter of fact the safeco insured driver was cited by the police officer who worked the accident. The evidence is conclusive and it is not disputable.
Safeco has been extremely slow and doesnt want to provide a rental vehicle.
i have been driving for more than 30 years. I have had only 3 other accidents of which none were my fault. The 3 other insurance companies performed just like they should have without issue.
Safeco, by far, is the worst insurance company I have ever had to deal with. Do not inure with them. If you have insurance with them, go on to someone else. They will burn you one day sooner or later.

When my husband and I got married in September 2011, we decided to get rid of my old car, and finally upgrade to a new one. At that same time, we also decided to change car insurance companies. At that same time, we also switched banks, and went with Wells Fargo.
My husband and spent a pretty good amount of time talking to an agent at Wells Fargo when he had mentioned Safeco insurance. So we decided that is who we were going to go with. Our agent made the transition completely pain free. They helped us with all the paper work we needed to do, and even took the time out to sit and help us do it. The price we are paying is absolutely amazing, especially since I’m under the age of 25. They figured out a way to work it so I was not costing a huge amount of money to run my car.
About a year ago, I was at the grocery store when an older woman had put her car in reverse, instead of drive, and backed into the front of my car. Luckily she was not going too fast, but she still managed to crack my front bumper, grill, and mess up the paint on the front of my car. We had turned everything into Safeco, and they had helped us out before the end of the day. I have had such a great experience with Safeco, I recommend it to anyone I know that has a car, or are planning on changing insurance. I will never go back to another company again!|

Safeco has provided me with excellent value and excellent customer service. About three years ago, I realized that I was paying too much for car insurance through my previous insurer. After shopping for rates with other carriers, Safeco surprised with a quote that was more than 40% less per month and provided me with significantly more coverage. I immediately switched and have not regretted that decision.
In 2012, my wife was involved in an accident in her vehicle. She was rear-ended in heavy traffic by a driver that fled the scene. This was our first experience filing a claim with Safeco. We were very surprised, indeed ecstatic, to be able to file a claim late in the evening of the incident. We received routine follow up calls from Safeco regarding the status of the claim. Safeco immediately provided a rental car and quickly had the damage assessed. The car was in for repairs in just days. We even chose our local body shop for the repairs. We paid our deductible, which would have been far higher with our previous coverage, Safeco paid out the rest, and my wife was happily driving her car again in no time. One of the most important tests for me, though, was whether Safeco would raise our rates after a claim.
I am happy to report that they have not. Their subrogation team is still trying to recover from the driver who caused the accident, and we receive periodic updates from them. We are still hopeful they will recover our deductible, but you never know. I am happy with Safeco and intend to stay with them as long as they do not raise my rates.

SAFECO is by far the worst company to work with, have had the familys cars, boat, house, rental properties etc. with them for over 15+ years. one family member has their license suspendend and they drop our coverage…. way to take care of your customers. Rates have been going up and service has been going down, about time to change anyways. Thank you SAFECO for helping us with our decision to switch to someone else.

I have been with Safeco for as long as I have been driving a vehicle–over 15 years now. They not only provide great coverage at a reasonable price, but their customer service is among the best I have experienced.
I have unfortunately had a small handful of wrecks and car break-ins, and every time Safeco has been concerned for my safety, courteous, timely, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile. When my car was hit and totaled on the highway, I had never been in a serious accident and didn’t really know what to do. My adjuster helped me every step of the way and quickly handled my medical claims to get fast treatment for my injuries.
When I was hit by a hit and run driver days before my wedding, Safeco arranged for a rental vehicle that we could drop at the airport on our way to our honeymoon.
I also love that they now provide roadside assistance. That has come in handy when I’ve been stuck with a flat tire on a busy highway, or when I had trouble with the jack on my new car.
Safeco also provides some of the best prices in the industry. My husband and I are able to carry full coverage on two vehicles, including a relatively new car, for only $40 more than he paid for his single vehicle with less comprehensive coverage. I have recommended Safeco to anyone who asks how I like my car insurance. I truly feel like they care and I will continue to be a customer for life.

My wife was injured in an auto accident when she was struck from behind at a traffic light by a young driver covered by Safeco Insurance. The driver was cited for “excessive speed” and my wife received treatment for a neck injury as recommended by two different medical professionals. The Safeco agent originally said the claim would be no problem, but later reneged because his “experts” determined she could not have been injured in this kind of accident. Even though more treatments were needed my wife discontinued them and paid the outstanding bills out of pocket. She is now left with limited range of motion, recurring headaches and anxiety while driving which all impact her work as a registered nurse.
Safeco ads claim they “Do More”, but that could not be further from the truth… unless it means do more harm than good. It has been a nightmare dealing with Safeco Insurance. They have added insult to injury by acting irresponsibly and unconscionably with us for months. Ours is a minor claim to them, but significant to us. My unfortunate warning to everyone now is if they are in an accident involving Safeco Insurance then do more… “Lawyer Up”!

Safeco insurance is the absolute best insurance around for both home and auto coverage! We have had our insurance with Safeco for both our home and our auto for at least five years now and we have never, ever been disappointed by them or their employees. Their customer service is absolutely fantastic. Their prices are unbelievable and amazingly low for the quality you get. Finally, my claims have always been handled with speed, discretion and care by the outstanding claims department. In my experienced opinion, there is no other insurance company to give your business to except for Safeco Insurance. First, let me discuss their customer service.
Safeco’s employees are very helpful. I have always gotten a prompt call back when I have made an inquiry after hours or there has been someone on call to answer my questions or point me in the right direction to get the help I needed. The representatives have always been kind and courteous on the phone and made me feel like I am their only customer and am to be cherished and taken care of right away.
When I have requested information to be sent via mail to me they have always followed through with what they said they would do. The mail has come promptly and has been exactly what I asked for. As for the prices Safeco offers to its customers, there is no one that can offer lower prices for the quality of coverage that I have come to expect and get. As the head financial advisor of my family of five, I am always looking for ways to lower our monthly bills. As a result I have looked into many different companies for our insurance coverage.
Inevitably, the representatives always come to the same conclusion and that is for the quality I am looking for Safeco offers the lowest price. Finally as for their claims department, they are a cut above the rest, for sure! In our last five years we have submitted one claim which was a car accident that we were not at fault for. They took our information and got it to the right people to get our car fixed without any money out of pocket. We didn’t even have to pay our deductible because we were hit by and uninsured driver and we qualified for a waiver.
Because of Safeco’s knowledgeable employees we were told of the waiver and they took care of all of the paperwork. Without Safeco we never would have even known a waiver existed. Our car was fixed and paid for promptly by our unbelievable insurace company, Safeco. In my opinion there is no other insurance company to consider but Safeco.
