Capital Insurance Group (CIG) started as Ventura County Mutual Fire Insurance in Ventura, California as a disaster insurance group for local farmers in 1898. They have been one of the few companies that have adapted quickly to the changing times and events in our country and even offered War Damage Insurance for their policyholders during WWII.

Over the years they merged with other smaller California insurance companies and have changed names several times. Their most recent name change was in 2003 when they changed from California Insurance Group to their current name of Capital Insurance Group because of their expansion of writing insurance in other states beyond California.
