PEMCO Customer Reviews
PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company is based out of Seattle, Washington, and has a long history of being associated with the western most part of the Pacific Northwest. Currently they only write insurance in Washington and Oregon.
PEMCO (Public Employees Mutual Casualty Company) was founded in 1949 by Robert J. Handy and was originally created to insure teachers that were members of the School Employees Credit Union of Washington. Handy, who was a teacher himself, was also one of the first to create a credit union in Washington after they were authorized for the state. The credit union he started, the School Employees Credit Union of Washington is still affiliated with PEMCO today.
Over the years, PEMCO started to write more and more insurance coverages and currently provides home, auto, boat, and life insurance.

Pemco is a great insurance company. I only have to pay a small deductible and they cover most everything. I have two cars and an safe driver past and I only pay about $300 a year for full coverage. I got in an accident last year involving thousand’s of dollars of repairs, I only had to pay $500 dollars and the rest was covered.
Pemco’s customer service is alright, with men and women who are somewhat helpful and mostly have good attitudes. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are bad, it really depends when you call. Claims is a hassle, as with all insurance companies, and I would say it is only average. The biggest deciding factor for me was the price. If you don’t have a history of bad driving and only make claims at seldom, Pemco would be the way to go.
They are a NW local company, so the prices are very consistent and stay low as long as you have a history of good driving. My son is about to be licensed and the rates for him are okay, but better than other companies.
