This company was great to me, when I first began with them. I have only been with them for a few months, but I have to say that they really seem like a group that I can stick with for a while. I don’t have a current driver’s license, but they were more than understanding regarding my situation. I did not have to jump through any special hoops, in order to begin my coverage. I did not have to answer a whole bunch of questions, before they would consider covering my vehicle. In fact, I was treated so well that I ended up speaking with my girlfriend about it; and adding her vehicle to my coverage as well. Since I am an incredibly safe and courteous driver, have had no need to file a claim with this company yet. However, based on all of my interactions with everyone affiliated; I sure do hope that I do not ever need their help, and find out that they turn into different people when I need them. I have spoken to a few other people who have their service, and I have been told that their care and attention is unmatched by anyone else in the industry. I’m sure that there was potential affiliation, but I am not concerned. At this point, I just want to make sure that I am as legal as I can be, while I work on correcting the status of my license. I would definitely tell a fried to consider this company.

WORST COMPANY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! IF YOU GET HIT BY SOMEONE WHO HAS WESTERN GENERAL INSURANCE, BE PREPARED FOR YOUR CLAIM TO BE RESOLVED BETWEEN 9-12 MONTHS.
I had an attorney on my case and she called me into her office a couple of times so I could hear her leave the same voicemails over and over to the same adjuster. It was a nightmare!!!!! This adjuster took 7 months to resolve my property damage claim. I have read that each adjuster gets 50-60 voicemals a day.
Also, you can never get a hold of anyone, YOU DO NOT EVEN HEAR A RINGTONE, it just goes to voicemail. i sat with my attorney and we could hear the same voicemail over and over. they do not care. You can tell this insurance company is the lowest of the lowest of the lowest of the low. First there is mud, then crap, the corpses, then this insurance company. WESTERN GENERAL YOU ALL ARE THE WORST!!!

On February 12, 2016 I was involved in an automobile accident, the young lady ran a stop sign and hit me.
All the appropriate steps have been taken in resolving this issue with Western General. It has been 6 months since the accident I am still in need of medical care that I can’t get because Western General insurance haven’t paid any of the medical bills thus far and still won’t give me approval for medical attention. At this point Western General Insurance hasn’t reimbursed me for my work van.
Western General Insurance has employed every tactic to delay my claim resulting in no medical attention. First Western General changed adjusters on me after about a month, the second adjuster found reason to send claim to underwriting and for some funny reason the file was passed on to litigation where it remains now.
What’s funny about all this? The funny part is Western General already has a recorded statement from the other driver claiming fault!
At this point I am not able to work because I can’t get the medical attention I need for a concussion, whiplash and 2 bulging disc in my neck. Not being able to work I am on the brink of losing house everything!

If I could provide zero stars I would.
A drunk driver insured by this company drove through my house and totaled my car in the driveway. Once the claim started I spoke with 10-15 different adjusters trying to come to a resolution, this company has a huge turnover rate, I never spoke to the same person. They would leave after a month.
As we were coming up to the statue of limitations I phoned Dennis Mango, their litigation specialist.
He informed that he had everything he needed and would have a settlement to me in 3 months. When I called to inquire why I didn’t here from him, he said he would call back like always and never did. I then received a letter stating they would not pay out because the statue of limitations had been reached. This company is a joke, just google them. No one has anything nice to say about them, I have filed through the Department of Insurance twice.

This insurance company is an absolute nightmare to deal with. They aren’t there when you need them. No one ever answers the phone and their customer service is awful. Oh but not if you’re making a payment they’ll be sure to answer the phone on the first ring. They don’t pay claims. I suggest all of you save your money- or pay a little more and get a better insurance company because this company is like having no insurance at all. One of the worst companies I have dealt with. No stars. .

The automobile insurance company that insures me is Western General Insurance (located in Calabasas, CA). The reason I chose this small company is because they offered me the lowest rates for my automobile. I’ve been with them for about a year and a half, and I have had two automobiles insured with them. I’ve never had to file a claim (lucky me!) so my review is solely based on ease of getting insurance, ease of payment, and their customer service. I’ll start off by saying I will give them a 3.5 out of 5.
The first year I had them, with my first automobile, I had no gripes against them. It was when I purchased a new car, and had to transfer my insurance policy that I had some problems with them and led me to deduct some points off their score. My old insurance policy for my old car was set to expire in January, the same month I got my car. Then I notified them the same month that I had purchased a new car and needed a new policy and cancel my old one.
Come to February, they charge me for my old policy and my new policy (two bills), I call them to rectify this, and they tell me “it was in the agreement that you have to pay for the last bill” – this was weird to me because when I sign up for auto insurance with them, they have me pay the first and last month upfront. This means I shouldn’t have been charged again for the “last bill.” Instead of my call with them being easily rectified, I had to jump through fiery hoops to get my money back. Finally they agree, and tell me the refund will be prorated for the days I used in February (but I had cancelled my policy already!!) and that the refund would take up to 4 weeks – with this information, I just called my bank and filed a dispute on my payment to them. My bank gladly refunded me the same day (amazing!).
Western General then sends me to collections to collect back what I disputed with my bank. After all this nonsense, it would make sense to cancel my insurance with them and go with someone else, but being a poor college student (you know how it is) I continue to use them because they offer the lowest rates for my automobile. Hopefully they don’t mess up with me again.
